The old Flight Simulator was probably the first game I ever played on my dad's PC way back in the mid 80's

Usually the full of extent of the gaming session was taking off and trying to crash into that big black building in the distance.

(No way my current PC would be able to run the new version...)

My one and only version was FS for Windows 95

Edit, was FS 98, not 95.

HA HA - I was going to say that here in Auckland we have fibre to the house with unlimited data so not really my problem!

Wow pretty impressive speed.  I only have a 100 mbit download and 40 upload but also uncapped.  I use anything between 600 Gb to 1,5 Tb a month.

Its actually quite interesting that Flight simulator is one of Microsoft's oldest pieces of software (even older than windows). In fact, I think I read on the wiki page that it is actually the oldest product in Microsoft's product line. 37 years old.

It could probably be faster but we have an average of 15 devices connected at any one time and all through Google Wifi adapters in a 3 story house.

I reckon it would be much better plugged directly into the router.

Im busy putting together specs for a pc to play this. Not for me but rather for a mate who lives in Norway's dad. His dad lives in the same town as me so the idea is to build the rig and get everything installed and drop it off for his birthday.

Another mate who lives in America has been prepping for this one for the last 3 years...

He has built a full F15 cockpit complete with all working gauges etc.

A whole lot of arduino's provide servo control for levers and its apparently a fully functional controller now.

Its scary to think how much money he has in that setup.

I flew over my house in the game and could see my car in the driveway.

It uses real time traffic, weather and satellite imagery during the game.

Absolutely amazing.

Bet you were happy it was your car in the drive and not the wifey’s play toy convertible....

the longer I watch the cycling industry grow stuff like this become more and more "reasonable " to me

I run it on my sons gaming laptop.

Its not high end by any stretch.

Asus Tuf Gaming. GTX1660Ti GPU and a AMD Ryzen 7 Processor with 16gig RAM.

Plus a cheap Logitech Joystick and you are up in the air.

This meets the recommended settings and I have had no issues.

He needed a new laptop about 6 months ago to play his games and I figured if i bought based in the MS FSM 2020 specs, I cant go wrong. Now the only issue we have is who gets to play.

Dang I would need to upgrade my GPU for that game, although Flight Simulator 2020 was one of the reasons I wanted to get an Xbox One S (got my wife a standard HP laptop and my daughter a kids laptop instead). Flight Simulator X it shall be for me, maybe.
