So I am looking for some carbon mtb wheels with the following spec:

29er Boost - obviously

27mm to 31mm ID - because size matters

Under 1600g - yes the weight matters

MicroSpline freehub - not negotiable

To go onto a 120mm/100mm travel bike with trail (or down country for the hipsters) and general XC hooliganism in mind and all the local races.

Options:

Lyne Pulse:

R14999

28 spoke

29mm ID

Lyne hubs JB01 with either the smaller or bigger bearings

1490g (claimed with small bearings) or add 90g for big bearing version - 1580g.

Not sure how accurate the weight is on these and if it is with rim tape

DarkHorse:

R14300

32 spoke

29mm ID

Bitex hubs same bigger bearings as big bearing Lyne hubs

1568g claimed but is apparently an accurate measurement with rim tape - not sure how accurate the weight is on since recently I saw a lot of manufacturers lie about the weights and specs.

Any others???

Looking for recommendations and comments if anyone has these particular wheels also. Seems like a no brainer win for the DarkHorse being 32 spoke and slightly lighter at the same spec an local pros running them on XC races.

Get hold of Nick the wheel builder..set of Nextie rims on Hope hubs. Very nice wheels, wide rims. Hubs will last forever

No way will a set of Hopes on Nexties be under 1600 though unfortunately.... Fit and forget hubs with bomb proof rims comes at a weight penalty.

The Lyne wheels are weighed on a scale in the shop with rim tape. You can't go wrong there.

Dayle goes the extra mile and then some. CSixx? They have some good products and are local.

Handgemaak South rims on DT 240s would be high on my list if money wasn't an issue.

BUT, these days, the truth is that modern bike parts are all so good that all of the above mentioned products will likely perform far beyond your skill set and fitness, so you probably could just pick one and be happy.

Have a look at the South Industries XC rims, laced to DT 350 Hubs at R18995 on their site, lifetime warranty and a lifetime 50% crash replacement warranty for the original purchaser

Almost bought a set of their Enduro rims last month, but decided my skill level does not warrant the extra cost, so bought a set of Hunt Trail Wides instead

Edit, price has gone up drastically since last month, R26995 now for that wheelset, 1595grams

To be fair all the other options seem way more expensive at well over the price of these with their +/-R15000 price point.

South is great but they work out a lot more expensive and the other options are also quite heavy - DT350 set is R26000 now.

Some custom Carbon 28spoke builds came to 1500g 26/27mm ID with DT350 hubs @ +/-R17000 which I cannot tell that they are much better than these hubs or builds

but they are unbranded and thus I am not sure if any warranty exists.

CSIXX 6Series is close but I do not see any benefit over the 2 options above.

So given the options above and the fact that I am a lightweight @ +/-70kg. would you rather get the 32spoke DH or the 28 spoke Lyne suppose it does not really matter or does it?.

Nexties with Aivee hubs built by Nick including tape  - front 600 rear 720 xd driver (boost)

Just rebuilt them with hope 4 pros because I needed a non boost rear  and couldn't have non matching hubs do to OCD but I didn't weigh them

Zero two wheels.

There’s a Race (27mm ID), Race SL (27mm) and Trail wheelset (31mm). 5 year warranty, crash replacement policy and they supported by Omnico so back up is super good.
