I have secondary trauma seeing that photo and the ones you shared after the crash.

We keep riding though cos it's lekker. Glad you are recovered and still giving Mrs Dale reassuring calls

Thank you for the tender words, Mamil. Warms my heart.

I know you cover many miles to the moon and back these days - be safe out there.

Seeing, hearing and reading about cycling incidents often reminds me of a scene from the movie Days of Thunder where Tom Cruise would not go to the hospital of the fellow driver that was in a bad accident.

We know it happens, we are aware of the dangers, but out of sight out of mind, otherwise it affects your performance.

I know I'm still haunted by a few bad crashes on our club rides, to the point where I'm still rather cautious as the speeds creep up and visibility is not great. I'll be riding along in the bunch just fine, somebody will twitch and my mind plays back images of bicycles flying through the air and bodies hitting the ground.

While moving my daughter into an apartment in Stellies at the start of the year, I was waiting at the Boord robot close to Spar to exit Boord and turn left into R44 towards the town. I waited at the red and then had a green arrow telling me I can go. I checked and proceeded. Suddenly this young idiot on a MTB just barreled across his red (R44 from Strand direction). I almost took him out because I was looking into the turn at the time. He did not stop nor realise I had green...dumbass Drove past him and kakked him out.

The physical wounds often heals much faster and better than the mind ....

Best wishes to riders and families working through that maze of mind games ....
