WTH do you need maches for on the 947 Gerald?

The 5-6 I was referring too are the ones that burn for 7 minutes. Most of the climbs, in the group I start will be less than than 7 mins.

Example: averaging 350W for 5 mins is a fat match, compared to a 20s match that could be 500-600W (closing a gap after a turn).

Edit: and the shopping is the training required to do 5x5min efforts back to back.

Interesting. How will that affect those with plans of doing a double?

There goes my plans of finishing and then riding along with a group back to Empire rd......

There’s a shortcut option straight down Nasrec road, skipping out the first bit through Soweto.

What kind of pace can us lesser mortals expect in the J/K/L bunches?

In 2019 I did 4:01 and have now been seeded in J group. Was quite surprised because don't think i can do much better than 4 hrs. Looking at the profile the challenge for me will be not riding too hard for the first 60km, to leave some legs for the uphill last 40km.

In my experience, over the years, J is about right. Lower entries this year plus the lack of race results over the last 18 months, means your time/seeding could very well be correct.

So for anyone still waiting I finally got this link after calling https://ridejoburg.co.za/mtb-start-time. Still no info on registration etc, but apparently the mail will come through today.

Have also been trying to get hold of race office for the MTB, just checked the above list, and am nowhere to be found... WTF, R office very silent today

Thank you, haven't received email so this was very helpful.

I will drop  back a few batches as I want to ride with a friend. Presume I can do that?

I'm missing from this list as well! ????

Hopefully they're still updating this list to be more complete before officially releasing it

If your name is not on the list, chances are great your entry was not captured. Make contact with them soon.

And if you need to contact them, email and whatsapp gave me no joy. But the following number at the end of the contact page got me to a human finally (tel:+27120125205)
