Yes Wednesday and then Dave will switch his phone off especially when the Trucaller ID says "Pure Savage"????

Some changes back to the old formats. Thankfully support vehicles will not be allowed to follow the riders again. That would have been a monumental FU with 4x4's overtaking slower teams in the latter stages. It didn;t work so well in the first decade of this century. Sanity has prevailed.

Bonnievale is back to a Neutral Zone Untimed feed stop of 30min. Its going to be a scorcher so this will be a much needed stop

So, fastest seeded last, and two neutral spots? Or did I read this incorrectly

Another awsome weekend on the bike,

Looking forward to the normal way of DC (2 non timed stops of 30mins???? as well as seeing the pro's flying by), as i have only done the Covid version last year, and was very lonely out on the road.

We'll meet in Swellendam and work on the dynamics in the first 35km...

Pretty much how we did it in 2017, my first Double Century. Still my first Double Century.
Literally a last minute dot com DC entry after a Cape Epic training camp in Franschoek. Took on a loaner road bike (I don't own such a thing) that I rode for a few days beforehand around Fishoek and Simons Town.

There were a few other substitute riders as well, I think we may have been one or two short. Even though we were collectively a group of strangers who met the day before the event, everyone was connected through a mutual friend somehow.
The team was made up from two or three provinces and the average age ranged from 20 - mid/early fifties. Weight/build pretty much followed a similar trajectory.

And honestly, I think this is what made the experience such a gees, everyone rode exceptionally well together with great camaraderie and we all crossed the finish together. With one of two blips along the way.
06h02 over 202km(ish) 70th out of 250, memories priceless. Fines meeting, tears of banter driven laughter. Double Century, **** it's a special experience.

Did teams always start only 30s apart? I thought that might have been a 2020 fastest first thing...
Feels like there will be huge buildups on the road?

As far as I remember always been 30 seconds, slowest first.   but have to go dig through mails if you really need confirmation

only place ever issue is suurbraak if there oncoming traffic.  rest is no problem
