Jury threatens Tadej Pogačar with Giro d’Italia disqualification over Castelli two-tone maglia rosa skinsuit with purple shorts

You can't make this stuff up. Crazy.

I like Tadej's reaction 🤣

Asked if he would attack from the start of the stage, Pogačar joked: “No, because no skinsuit, no aero.”

What the actual...?!

These UCI officials need to go get a life. You're seriously threatening the race leader with disqualification for something like this?!

Aren't there sock lengths they can scrutinize or shifter hoods that are tilted just a little bit too much to keep them occupied anymore.🧐

They have to justify their existence....

I'm at the point where I just need to  accept them like you accept the drunk Uncle/Aunt at the Christmas dinner. Nothing you say will change them and you just need to accept they are part of the package deal...

unfortunately with the history of cycling it is hard not to question any stand out performance. I want to believe that we are in a new clean era with a level playing field but if I have learned anything from the past, is if it looks to good to be true, then it probably is.

For cycling I really hope that he is just an exceptional talent that is streets ahead of the rest.

“ I feel sorry hit those who cannot believe in miracles. I feel sorry for the doubters and the cynics….etc etc etc”

in all honesty, the chances of getting caught today are significant higher than they were in the 90’s and 2000’s. One would have to be on a fully sanctioned programme to fly under the radar or just not performing to not get tested..,

I usually also do, but I want to see him do this week three of TdF, not day 3 of Giro 🤣

Patience my Gaelic friend …. He does today so he may be perfect in July.

thank god the UCI has returned decorum to the peloton

All that pink, next they’ll ping him for playing with the peloton while not wearing a raincoat

Interesting stage today with the 3 gravel sections and then the finale with the wall of serre di Rapolano.

Could this be a perfect day for the break away to go all the way, or will we see Pog attack and extend his lead even further.

This stage suits a Alaphilippe of olds, he is in the break away today. can he turn back the clock and do what he used to do.

Don't discount Kaden GROVES and Matteo TRENTIN Nevermind, they've been dropped.

The race of truth today, with a 6.6 km climb at the end after 34 kms.

The TT will likely set apart the podium contenders from the best-of-the-rest.

Pogačar’s last performance against the clock, if I remember correctly, was an effort clouded by illness or exhaustion, during the Tour de France 2023 edition. It was the time of the extraordinary effort by the flying maillot jaune in Vingegaard. In light of this, I imagine this will be an important performance benchmark for team UAE, who has really elevated their time trial capabilities across the team in the last while.

After an intense first week, many of the pure climbers, like Quintana, have already slid down the ladder or is out of the race, like Michael Woods.

Meanwhile, the Stelvio is 2 weeks away and in a beautiful winter’s coat still. Here’s hoping for no routes shortened or mountain passes shut down.

Hard to see it going any other way than a Pogačar win.

Of the other GC contenders only Thomas has some ability against the clock. Uijtdebroeks is a bit of a unknown, looking at his past results it does not look like he has much of a chance but the Bees would have put a lot of work in strengthening his TT abilities.

With the TT still in the first week we might se some TT specialists, the likes of Ganna, Foss, Mullen and Hepburn set the early bench mark. Plapp might be the surprise package of the day, as his GC hopes has taken a major hit he might go all out today and try and get this stage win.
