aquaratza Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 (edited) Some people ride for fun... The CTCT is a pretty route and it's the only time of the year that you can ride the route without the risk of traffic-related death. I was thinking about entering again, but I have an ebike now and then saw on the entry form that ebikes were allowed, so I stupidly entered as an ebike rider and then only read the Ts&Cs around ebikes and saw the restriction of 3h50m... I mean, at that time you might as well ride a normal bike. I rode it on a normal bike during the superspreader "what is covid" event and did it in 4h 9m and I spent a lot of time waiting for friends and being scared of the tar*, so 3h50m is just silly. Doing CTCT in that time on an ebike is trivial imo, you won't need to turn it on. *I was on a borrowed road bike, normally I ride MTB. The road bike scared the * out of me at higher speeds. You will take away entry avaialability. The last few years was never sold to capacity and entries available up to the very last. 2. You will take away sportmanship... Uneven and/or unfair competition. Just wondering how those using hand cycles and unicycles feel when manual bikers pass them. 3. E-bikers do not stop to assist manual bikers with flat tyres or broken chains. You will take away camaraderie. Have you ever seen cyclists in groups $-2 stop to help others with punctures or mechanical issues. 4. Worst... You will be first at the Beer Tent... and you will take away the cold beers and drink it all. Siss on you! 💐 Cannot argue here Points 1-3 hold no merit...Just be lekker and enjoy the reason why you entered. ChrisF 1

But isn't the reality that the guys who ride the CTCT and other events for time, the guys chasing time, is where the real doping problem lies. I would venture that if you compare people getting an unfair advantage in events, then the figures about guys actually cheating via actual doping far outweighs some guy on an e-bike gaining an advantage. The focus and hurt about e-bikers doping is very misplaced. Efforts would be better spent on tackling the real doping problem. facts on a FRIDAY .... what is happening to this place ....
