I love how banks come up with ways to protect their users and then clients are just 'I don't think it works, pfft. It's dumb' despite them having harvested tens of thousands of examples and have teams of devs working on safety and counter activity.

The FNB virtual card is fantastic.

I was a self professed luddite who refused to use the bank app and evolve for ages. Once I did I was forced to do my homework and now really do use at least 30% of the benefits thrown at me.

Pay with a virtual card, refresh it. Boom.

No way can anyone spend your money. Stop for coffee/lunch/lamb and whiskey, pay, refresh card. Boom.

Buy stuff on line, refresh, boom.

Some people hate change and are obsessed with brick and mortar things because change is dumb.

I know you jest but for clarity:

Snapscan requires the vendor to have it…and they take like 3% or something…so it costs more for everybody..so you are actually veing elitist haha.

It's also just a card transaction. The fees are similar to a credit card transaction, and as the vendor there is no monthly cost. For small businesses with low credit card volume it's cheaper than a cc machine.

It's actually owned by standard bank, but yoco is changing the game with cheap cheap machines now.

Yes I know stb owns it.

Based that comment off this and small restaurant owner telling me it’s too expensive when I give them crap about why they dont have it to make my life easier😅. I hate waiting for bills in general. I guess thats having snapscan and a card machine, since they have to have a card machine anyway. It makes sense for someone at milnerton fleamarket i guess to have just SC.

Yes, yokos are awesome.

Come on ... that cost is built into the price of the coffee .......

A guy we use for our auto electrical work uses Yoko, and it has transformed his business .. no more issues of "I will eft you" or whatever other lame excuse people come up with.

He charges for his labour time and any parts you may require, and you pay him via Yoko or cash on the spot before he leaves. ... this guy deserves every cent he earns based on his great work and he should not have to deal with chops, so Yoko for the win.

Yes but if you dont have a yoko, already have bank machines, are stubborn and resistant to chsnge…i guess it IS more expensive to have both?

nit a clue how zapper works, ive noticed it is used more in GP, snapscan more in CT. Some do but not many places offer both.

edit: ps ive paid for food before using bitcoin though. technically thats the cheapest way to pay. 0 fees 😜

anyway. Better stop now. Way off topic and communist overlords linger…

I need to know something though, did the Lamb shank and whisky guy at least pull the group on the ride? Or was he a freeloading wheelsucker there as well? 🤔

Pull my foot. Always at the back, saying he wasn't feeling that good until we dropped him. 🤣

No more expensive to have both.

Card machines take a percentage, yoco a percentage, zapper/ snapscan, etc etc. Just different payment gateways, and all of them take their cut. IMO, have as many options as you can - make it is easy as possible for your client to pay. Makes no difference to me which option my client uses at the end of the day.

BOOM, the Monkey get's it.

Make your clients purchase seamless and positive so that the client returns and drops more cash with you (ok, digital cash) and your business can grow.

zigactly.

a vendor saying snapscan is too expensive is just being lazy.

the way it can embed into your bill is quite impressive.

Eish.. Almost Friday..

BTW, you can pay car guards in Cape town CBD with snapscan, their handheld devices can also take card or tap payments..

soon enough that ad from some time back with the beggar at the robot pulling out a card machine may be in the near future..

Ironically, after going totally wireless and high tech .... I still need the paper receipt from the parking attendant to claim back at work ... 🤪

some street vendors in town also operating card facilities... saw okes buying losse entjies with card

The bet thing about a virtual card is that it can’t be a Skimmed. Also as mentioned the CVV changes hourly. Works perfectly with garmin and Apple Pay.

yoco have developed their offering a lot. You are now able to do invoicing and stock control on their app.  Very clever for a small business. Far preferable to the traditional bank machines as they come with a fixed monthly charge which is expensive
