Two things from todays footage.

The elevated cameras sure flatten the trails.  Locals KNOWS those short sharp climbs along Missing Link .... some camera angles made it look almost flat.  Only the top riders getting out of the saddle and working up there hinted at the elevation.

We have some stunning trails 👍 couple of links and gates used today really adds some nice options .... pity the club news letter so often has to address gates being left open.  Sad, but understandable that these gates are not available to club members

There was feedback on some low flying. The pilots and org have their own separate briefings twice daily regarding patterns, weather, no-fly zones etc. So it's very much under control. There's a ton of coordination between landowners/farmers, CAA, organisation and the pilots.

Epic Series apparently dealt with a legal case from a rider a while back over the lifetime ban and the decision was made by UCI ito the regulations. For YdV it's more complex since CSA/UCI are (were) entirely none communitive in her case, so there's a grey cloud over everything.

Details aside, it is looking to be a superb week of racing and there's some droolworthy kit around.

I watched the ladies and men. The men doing that lap in a blip over an hour is mental. The pace was dizzying, and Beers and Blevins did well and it's a pity the bulk of the footage was of Nino and Frischknecht. I would have liked to see more of Matt Beers. I'm not convinced that the title defenders will stay in the running over the course of the week. They looked underwhelming to me.

My gripe for the day goes to Gerald de Kock and his commenting. He had more than a few cringe moments, of which the one that really irked me the most was his constant referring to the Fairtree floating bridge despite it being sponsored and hosted by Fair Cape Dairy on their farm, with a massive branded container interlink truck and banner flags all over. Or his referring to Table Mountain and Robben Island flanked by False Bay. [Insert face palm here]. I'd be very annoyed for having spent all that money and then to have some half assed promotion by the presenters. Anyway, that's just my 5 cents.

I was at Stairway and several times i Had to correct Valstar too. I think he was just having fun

Like calling Koni Loser "the Frenchman" when he is clearly Swiss flying the Swiss flag all over himself.

And Kaitlyn Nash who is actually KATERINA {Ka....tear.  reee...na} Nash.

I think they just get so excited in their on moments they fall over the letters and end up mispronouncing

Its also hard work to jiba jaba all day long without tripping over your tongue from time to time

although its hard to understand that Gerald could get excited about anything......

Speaking of Gerald, who won today? I was hammered by 11 because of my new drinking game. Its gonna be a long week, I’ll need to get a case of Quervo or switch over to something else.

Some bike checks.

I'm impressed. Race ready 120mm bikes at 10.88kgs.

Lills bike with dropper. Eggers literally has all his spares on board.

Mind the average interviewer.
