Hi guys. Had some fun making this part and thought it turned out pretty well.

Some pics of the process…

IMG_4216.jpeg.90962563844068f9356cd239654b1f58.jpeg3d printing is a great way to get a feel for the design direction. Started with the design on the left. From a geometric and cosmetic perspective it seemed pretty good, but the lack of angle made the Garmin tilt towards me too much on the bike. Moved to the design on the right after a couple of iterations.

IMG_4120.jpeg.a9492a4158ed331c4e254a60b69c35fb.jpegSide one off the CNC machine. We had to do 3 operations per part, top (in the pic above), underside and then the holes that attach the 2 halves. So each mount has 6 machining operations in total.

IMG_4214.jpeg.4de050ae5a5d80a565af71d020feea78.jpegSome machining detail. That wavy pattern is from an adaptive clearing tool path using a 6mm carbide cutting tool. I really like the effect.

If design is something you’re interested in check out Fusion 360 you can download a free trial or an enthusiast license, so many YouTube videos to get you going. The Ender 3 3d printer is a great solid option and can be had for around R4k to R5. I use Cura for the 3d printing file. CNC machining isn’t as accessible as 3d printing. If you are designing with the intention of having the part machined, try think of how a cutting tool can get to every place of the part and whether you can machine 5 sides in 1 operation.

Made a few extra, pop me a dm if you’re interested. I’ll also list on classifieds. Available with either Garmin or Wahoo mount. R700

I’m keen to make a few other things, got some stuff in the pipeline…

We'll done. I'd like it a lot in a simple format ie where it's just the mount using o rings to fasten it the bar like this? Might add a lot of complication?

Attached pics of Bryton mount I used to have ..Screenshot_20230526_180832_Chrome.jpg.97aa8d63c6d77f6a2cc0f02879ec9b1f.jpg

Thanks! This is a nice simple design and probably easier to machine. I prefer not to have thing’s attached to my bike with o rings or elastic bands though. If you actually want one I think I have one in the box that my garmin came in that you can have.

This machining reminds me of the POLE bikesIMG_4214.jpeg.4de050ae5a5d80a565af71d020feea78.jpeg

Pole Machine review

🔥🔥I love that bike! Maybe a very far in the future project :whistling:

Made these Garmin Varia mounts for @Furbz these are for a Bontrager saddle and screw directly into the Bontrager mounting holes. The man was adamant they should be anodized black and what a good decision!

Hot off the CNC machine...

Credit where credit is due.

these mounts have a really premium build and look to them.

i have not seen anything as nice as this full stop. if they were in a Garmin marked box you'd believe they were made by them no questions asked.

the perfect solution to all my high end bikes - i'll post a few more close ups tomorrow

Looks great, beautifully done!!!

Way better than 3D printing quality.

New business opportunity.

And none of the worries about the print will delaminate .... with the price of Garmin devices THIS is the way to go:thumbup:

I saw an attachment that screws onto the stem, using two of the stem bolts, for an out-front mount.

Would love something of this quality to mount the GoPro in the front.
