First a dash to the Circus, thought I'd go say hello to Marcel but alas the gate was closed ... then a high speed collect and deliver on the messenger bike, was it contraband ... sure was that cigarette carton size and feel [emoji848]038d05d94a94999fba50ae76ae041143.jpg19fb3c59cf5f378df7be406d725201fe.jpg

Do you know the Blockhouse Engen filling station on the R59 to Vereeniging? Its about a km or two South from there. Daleside off ramp from R59 south.

The circus tent that was visible from the highway has been taken down. Race for Victory starts here. Used as a pit stop by cyclists for all sorts of rides. There is a restaurant. Beer , coffee, pizzas etc. And nice trees and space for the children to play.

Nice also to do a group ride from there through SBR (enter south gate) and back. Maps : Cafe du Cirque.

See Ben beat me to it. It's nice there.

Probably the reason I dont know about it, I dont normally do pit stops on my rides. I go out, ride, and once I'm back home or at my final destination only then do I get off the bike.

I recall  back in the early 90's when Lido hotel was THEE place to be for cycling, my dad and I would ride out there, do a route out towards what I can now see on the map was Circus, then head back. Where people would stop at the Cafe at Lido and be finishing their rides it would only be just over halfway for us and we'd head back home. It made no sense to me to be stopping there.

Next time just phone them (the Circus). They’re open for “takeaways”, or at least they were on Tuesday morning.

For Ouzo:

The tent, before it was taken down. Costs to keep

It to the H&S standards was too high.

The coffee shop area

The food is good, especially the burgers, tramezzini and pancakes. Coffee and Banana bread special is also good value.
