When I saw the second pic I thought it might be Scrabo, but that's bigger, I think...what and where is it?

I was typing about a bike and took a pic of a pic of the bike on the screen and got the bike in the reflection :-)

That is Helen's Tower, between Bangor and Newtownards. Scrabo is just the other side of Newtownards. I'll snap a picture from our front lawn tonight if the weather is clear.

Although the sun's just gone down and the cold creeping in...unlike your long eves at the moment.

 

Loving your pics. Very wistful. Scrabo dominated the landscape of my very young years. It was off-limits when I was a kid. The reasons given varied...it was haunted, it was a secret police base, etc... but the most likely was that it was dangerous! It was surrounded by scaffolds. My late mum-in-law returned from a visit there with a framed sketch of Scrabo for me some years back.
