Yip, Outsurance did not even ask me for a certificate, just your estimated replacement value and you pay the premium.

This does NOT work with Santam.

A different problem….watch their minds melt when you tell them you have fully custom bikes built from scratch that you wont find in a cookie cutter bike catalogue🤣

“yes but is it a trek or a giant or a specialised?”

Also, the amount of people who hear ‘scott’ when i say ‘cotic’ haha. Shows how conditioned we are i guess.

If you can, go to a place that stocks your brand. It'll be much easier for them to give you a quote.

I gave my Insurer an itemised pricing for frameset, groupset, wheels, cockpit components and everything else that totals up to the replacement cost. At least for the bike that isn’t an off the shelf purchase.

Very similar nightmare getting the correct insuance value for a kitted 4x4 ... especially if you did most of the kittin yourself ....

Had to go beg at a fitment centre for a valuation document ....

Likewise, but if itemized should also be easier to derive value of replacement for a specific component.

Correct, I even included links to websites showing items not available locally
