[Event] Old Mutual Wealth Double Century

My last DC was back in 2007. Back then there was no compulsory rest stops so this is going to be a great new experience.

Racing with Team Shifting Hearts, an NPO raising funds for school clothing and kit for local farm school children on Bottlelary Road. Starting nice and early at 5:32am and certainly targeting a Charles Milner Medal. If all goes well it will be my 9th DC, all with 12 finishers, which to me is what this event is all about.

Weather prediction is looking great so far, let's hope it holds out. The hard work is done, now it's an easy taper, eat well and try stay healthy 🤙 See you guys & gals out on the road, say Hi when you breeze past 😄

Yup, Dudon and one other are the only experienced DC riders there, the rest are all DC virgins 🤭

He's an experienced and strong rider, he's put in some solid training miles.

Yebo, solid bloke to have on your team👍🏼

Hope Vye give you a discount on the kit because they used their old logo? LOL

Kit looks cool, different, 1 of the best parts about the DC is seeing all the cool custom kit desings.

All the best.

I'm more of a "time over team, lets see if we can get 6 to the finishline" type of rider, makes for far more entertaining war stories.

Problem is I haven't been in the front 6 of a team since 2019, its getting embarrassing 🙈!

I will call you Oom from now on, Oom.

Good luck to all riders; reading Buff’s recollections; my last DC was back in 2006, great memories, also no ‘enforced’ feeding stops, Will Ferris, Jeremy Valegra, Patrick Gaertner (RIP) John Tennant, Stavros Michalopus, Brett Wooldridge and others, amazing, amazing memories, especially afore-mentioned Jeremy Valegra making REALISTIC ‘whinnying’ horse noises whilst rearing his bike up on one wheel whilst awaiting the  starting gun - crazy/fun times…!!!

ALL: ride well, God-speed!
