I find the new Quick Edit popup far more annoying than the AI ride comment. I can ignore the latter quite easily, the popup keeps coming up while I am already doing something else in the app.

It also helps that the Strava AI has been quite flattering so far 😋 It claims my ride this weekend was a great MTB ride, which is only true of the first 29km of 56.

Agreed, would love the option to switch it OFF ...

Okay, so I did get the standard response that they got my email and contact me later ....

As you say, only way this changes if they get a LOT of these emails.

Strava AI clearly can’t workout that I’ve logged an activity every day, since 13/12/2023.

And it can’t see that the average speed is down because the vertical gain is increasing.

There may be somemore open letters sent to Strava, after they announced on Friday that 3rd party apps can no longer use data from the Strava API to analyse data, and also coaches will no longer be able to see their athlete's data (pivacy policy changes), inside of 30 days.

So apps linked to Strava like StatsHunters, Velo Viewer, MyWindsock, etc. will have to makes changes to get your data from, your device manufacturer's software suite. Intervals.icu is the big one I need to make changes on (not for me, but the few guys I'm working with).

You may have seen a mail  from them, this week:

Hello G,
We’re reaching out to inform you of a change that affects how third-party apps connected to Strava may display certain information. This update, effective on November 11th, is part of our commitment to privacy and transparency across all connected apps and devices.

Third-party apps will now only be allowed to display Strava activity data related to a specific user to that user. Partners will be required to update their app within 30 days of November 11th to align with this new standard.

What This Means for You
You’ll continue to have access to your personal Strava activity data within your connected apps, but you may notice differences in how this data appears on platforms that need to align with our updated privacy terms.

We understand these changes can be an adjustment, and we’re here to help. Read our full post for more details on this update and its impact.

Thank you for being a valued member of the Strava community.

Best,

The Strava Team

The October I❤️Boobies challenges used Strava as the central event recorder.

BUT, each participant had to manually enter their event details onto the I❤️Boobies site.

For an auto data upload ... $10k handshake to Strava ....

Let's just say Strava is creating space in the market for the next product ....

Dumb move really.  It is your data being uploaded to strava, so stopping you linking to sync it to alternative platforms is not doing them any favours.

It's not as if strava have great analysis backend.  They should stick to being the social media platform for people who work out and work on enhancing it rather than throwing spanners in the works that will likely get the major fitness trackers / partners develop their own API's to get your data to other platforms.... which will mean less and less need for strava

I think this is the issue. Strava wants to push the premium packages. Currently you can have a free package and link it to any of the better analysis tools out there and there is no need to pay strava stupid money. So they are losing premium subscribers.

And today I get email feedback from Strava, on the "Auto Edit pop-up" :

Hello Chris,

Thanks for reaching out. At this time, it is not possible to disable Quick Edit. We appreciate your feedback and I've passed your comments along to the rest of our team.

Best,
Scott

O-well, only way this gets addressed is if LOTS more people submit feedback about this.

Yea sure, not a biggie ..... just in today's electronic age these functions comes standard with an OFF option.

Useful to read DCRainmaker's response to the update to show why this remains an issue (Use the "Jump to" menu on the left to get to it):

I get the feeling this is another one of those "executives make decisions to get themselves bonuses but then backfire because they don't really understand the product" events (e.g., Boeing).

An update to the recent changes, not sure it makes any difference

It is a long read.

Scroll halfway down, where DC adds and discuss the fact that Strava is steadfast in their aim to lock out other apps.

It is scary that almost only Garmin owners can carry on on their own, and directly to some of the other apps.  I did not realise how much of the market built their model onto Strava only ....
