As good a place as any to remind the help-my-trap clan ....

1. Read the rules .... at least 3.10 if you dont like reading

2. READ the extracted rule on the entry portal when you select an ebike ... jip, 3.10

3. By the time you read THIS, you have already paid and need to plan your race, sorry fun ride, accordingly ...

My first CTCT, about 45 seconds off 3h out of 1D group. I was in pink/yellow/black Knights Racing kit on a SuperSix Evo 4, I'm very large like 197cm/98kg.

Tried to jump onto Dean's wheel at the start but failed. Hanging on for dear life at the top of Edinburg.
Smits felt great, 370-380w for the climb. Felt great and getting better throughout the day. My average was 243, normalized 289.

Worked a decent amount after that, found myself off the front on the descent by Ocean View. Saw a 1B group up ahead. I towed a chap 'Larry' in Pure Savage kit who stubbornly refused to work and bridged the 45-60s gap... only for the main 1D bunch to show up a few KM after just before chappies. Should have just rolled turns instead!

Was totally spent for Chappies, tried to catch on to the front guys from 1D there in the descent, fail. Suikerbosse, took it easy-ish, then rode hard to the finish. There was a guy from 1E who was working too who caught us after Chappies, happy he dropped under 3h.

Hi All,

I was not aware of this the discussion in this thread until someone gave me a heads-up.

I was the guy who dropped back from & to ride with my girlfriend in 1D. She started riding properly about 8 months ago after a serious knee operation put a pause on her trail running aspirations.

The initial idea of dropping back was to get her around safely without any crashes before she rides Cape Epic this week. On the Saturday afternoon before I thought "why don't we see if we can get you a Sub 3".

To clear things up, the goal was not to bruise all the male egos of 1A, 1B, 1C by a woman beating you all. It was also not to "start late and surprise the other women". 1D is where she was seeded and this is where she started. She did not get added to the Elite ladies race (there are many far faster women there) and wanted to do her first Cycle Tour as the original route. She was not pushed around the course and rode that pace on her own power.

A really nice spin-off of the morning was that there were a number of guys in 1B and 1C who came to thank us afterwards for the help in getting their first Sub 3 - win-win all around.

I did not mind having 300 men sitting on my wheel while I paced them to their PB's (99% of whom never paced), and I think the questions around her result are incredibly unfair.

It's the Fundrider World Champs guys, lets just have fun, try ride sub 3's,4's and 5's and keep it lekker!

Well done! That last 9km must have hurt the legs pushing for that sub 3!
