Like many others I used an old road bike on my indoor for those times I needed it, COVID, injury recovery etc. Had a mate that really needed a bike and so I let it go

Decided to build a 'minimalist' dedicated Indoor Trainer Bike (ja ja because I can 😜 ) .... So what's really needed, no brakes, 1* so only a right shifter and rear derailleur, a back wheel that works, a front wheel that just holds the bike up ... Any old frame

Got hold of a KHS alu Flite 700 ca 2006 I guess, no hanger, got the closest possible from my trusty mate @GrahamW (jeez the knowledge and bits that oke has 😮 ) and then on his recommendation 'grinded' away at it till it sort of fitted

Gears - 1*8 53*11-32 ... 9sp DA derailleur, did have to do the 'B screw backwards' hack though

Wheels

Rear - damaged on the brake surface, not safe on road but on a brakeless indoor bike 👍

Front - 24 hole tubby rim to 32 hole funky anodised hub, had a tubby tyre hanging about ... Quick build just good enough to hold the front up!

It's up and running no issues .... The chain stays on the front sans FD or guide so that's a bonus

Dumb trainer, MyWhoosh free 😎

Anybody else use something dedicated on trainer that could not be ridden outside at all or at least not safely?
