I just want to applaud whoever the person/s are that went the correct route to get this guy to face the music and account for a small portion of his own life choices.

May his chickens come home to roost.

QUESTION - How does the SA legal system work ?  IF more people now report their experiences with the police and get case numbers for the times they had run-ins with this person.  Are all these cases all lumped together ?  OR, is he being tried for "the one" case that got him arrested ?

Easy enough to get out of a "single case"  ..... would be a whole different story if a docket of multiple cases are presented.

Just a random thought but my takeaway from this guys history is that it appears you can get away for a very long time scamming people ie taking money for services/events but not delivering. But physically stealing something ie the Specialized e-bike is crossing a line that will actually get you arrested.

I dont think saps is that sophisticated to collate all the cases together, if you as an individual report a case. You'd have to have all the other case numbers ready and present it to the investigating officer, not the desk sergeant.

Or, you need long pockets to pay an attorney to gather the case numbers all together.

You might have a small chance of collective cases if the state prosecutor see's or notices a repetition in a name, but this is unlikely due to the amount of dockets that crosd their daily paths

Unfortunately, the court systems are just too over worked and under staffed, the same for the saps investigators

It is sadly a bonus for the perpetrator. But, the long arm of the law will eventually catch up, especially if victims are present in court when his bail application gets heard... (hint hint)

Unfortunately the prosecuting authority likes lumping them all together despite it not needing to do so, and that is why none of the State Capture people will ever see jail.

Instead of taking one case where they have convincing evidence and prosecuting that, they embark on a never-ending quest to find every wrongful act with the intention of bringing one  massive case. Unfortunately they never get to the end of the investigation, because there is always one more little (or maybe big) matter that needs completing.

And ironically, it is not "easy enough to get out of a single case". The opposite is actually true. The more cases, the more witnesses, the more witnesses the greater the chance of them contradicting each other, the greater the chance of reasonable doubt, and the chain breaks at the weakest link.

Charge him on one or two simple matters, get a conviction, get him in jail and then he can be charged with the others. This also has the advantage of him having to defend himself multiple times, each with a lekker legal bill attached.

Best is to supply the SAPS office that arrested him with all the case numbers. Relying on SAPS's pony mail system would have this guy out on bail for the next 5 years before any case is brought before a judge or magistrate.

The investigating officer worth his salary should then be able to connect all the dots in a very short time, else this person is a free man ............ for now that is.

I know they have those computers with the green monochrome screens, but surely your ID number flags everything together?

Just to temper everyone's expectations:

In Feb there was that big bust on the Online Drug Syndicate situated in Pretoria that was built on 3 years of surveillance on the suspects. They got bail of a couple of thousand rands each.

Taun will most likely be out on bail as soon as he has his bail hearing. But then, the law will take its course and it might take years for this to conclude.

Thats why a few of the victims need to be present when bail hearing is set. Take an attorney with so they can befriend the state prosecutor in the bail application.

But, we need to see that he is arrested first - I'd hate to be ahead of the expectations on this one
