  2. I am interested but need to know if I change it to internal cable routing …
  3. one day I want to live a life where I'm so spoiled that I can throw my toys over a cable routing #genuinelyenvious
  4. I am aware of this, and infact did the mod as per youtube videos, but my pressure never went below 12ish...
  5. Would this work on your bike? https://www.decathlon.co.za/p/302106-108573-20-and-24-kids-bike-stabilisers.html?gad_campaignid=22303306686&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwwpDQBhAuEiwAa-4Wo7G2sEoYdWsoQOjIS4grnN_VTImjlcHYYgMATNfqSkQqHg3Jc_C0wRoCsuMQAvD_BwE&utm_campaign=za_t-perf_ct-pmax_ts-bra_f-cv_o-conv_spd-msp_spu-msp_sp-msp_fo-mix_at-dem_xx-feed_only_campaign&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google
  6. That seems a bit extreme 🤷‍♂️
  7. not sure a bean to cup will ever be comparable to a manual machine, no matter the price. the breville also has an OPV, way too much pressure from the factory. i recommend turning it down to half the pressure. (how to vid on youtube is easy to follow. also the grinder on the breville has two size settings, the one visible on the side of the machine, and another less obvious on the burrs which there is another youtube vid for. add an ims shower screen, a larger 21g portafilter basket and a decent 10kg even pressure tamp and i remain unconvinced by the insane jump in cost to the E61's folk are getting to match the quality of coffee im getting. the breville is also somewhat more portable, i take mine with to races/weekends away to avoid dorpie coffee.

  11. Clearly I’m in the minority on here, but I have internal headset routing on my new cypher. I love the look, I’ve always loved the look. This is my second bike with headset routing, I know it’s much trickier to work on but the visuals make up for it. Most people I’ve spoken to agree with me, it’s worthwhile to pay someone to deal with it if we don’t feel up to it. And before you all come flinging rocks at me, I am a bike mechanic (not that I practice the trade).
  12. Hello. Im still around.
  13. Always lekker to not have to wait for it warm up, mine has a timer as well, the “smart “ ones are awesome in terms of ease of adjustability etc but at a price! the cost to convert mine to a smart machine was astronomical.
  14. Titan has proposed a solution, albeit not in the near term to swop the current fork for one that can accept the required routing. Will have to wait for their next shipment to arrive in 3/4 months' time.

  16. The steamer is a fair bit quicker, takes around 45 seconds to steam milk, you can also change the temperature of the steamer, so you can make it steam even quicker, it is also nice that being a dual boiler, there is no delay between brewing and steaming, and you can control brew temp and steam temp independently, it also has an adjustable OPV so you can dial that in to your taste as well. I will admit that the Breville, for me at least, was easier to get good texture in the milk, I struggle a bit with the Gemilai. In line with some other comments, it does take a little longer to get up to temperature, around 5-8 minutes, I leave my phone in the kitchen at night, so I just turn it on when I get up to turn my phone alarm off, and by the time I have got dressed and whatever it is ready to use. I leave the portafilter in the machine while it is heating up as it helps heat the portafilter up, and then just pull a 10 second manual shot to get hot water through it to make sure it is nice and hot for the first shots to be pulled.
  17. I have a Sonoff smart switch with timer that makes sure my machine is warmed up before I wake up or get home from my ride. Some of the fancier machines have built in timers controlled via an app.
  18. @SwissVan talk to us about this very interesting referendum on June 14?
  19. I have a Lelit MaraX and love it. It takes about 20 minutes to get to temp - so no big deal. There has to be some give and take and buying a good manual machine is not about convenience. If I wanted that then I would have stuck with my Delonghi automatic that couldn't froth milk and made pretty meh espresso. Now I ride home to have coffee! I have a smart plug and have gotten into the habit of turning the machine on when I get to the top of Constantia Nek.
  20. This Spring/Summer, on my occasional HB - Paarden Eiland commutes, i wish to SWIM at Sea Point swimming pool… (am already swimming, but using my van to get there…). Question; anyone here know if bicycles still HAVE to be locked OUTSIDE of the pool, or will staff occasionally let you carry bikes in, like in days of yore? (yes, I am that old!) Happy to lock my bike to the railing, but then head unit + rear light/radar AND front light need to be removed, AND i cycle in with work gear in a frame-bag, not a back-pack, so am worried about ‘light fingers’…! Any advice appreciated Chris
  21. everybody knows mosigge trail runners don't wash anything....
  22. Yoh ... didn't realise I was so much in the minority. I would take the time and effort for the very occasional headset service I do to have such a neat 'cockpit' any day. If I could afford such a fensie bike that is! I do have a bike with tricky internal cabling, albeit not through the headset, but have acquired the necessary routing kit and it has become way less of a chore now
  23. Once you’ve had a dual boiler machine it’s hard to get used to anything else
  24. i can probably turn my breville on and make 5 pro flat whites in the time the E61 type machines (Rocket/lelit etc) have needed just to heat up ... are you turning the steam on straight after pulling a shot?
  25. I was doing the "homer disappearing into the bush" gif when I saw what some okes would sacrifice for a headset bearing service 👀
  26. you were on the road, had your phone in your hand, thugs got suspicious, thinking it was a trap so didnt want to take that risk, besides you move too fast for them anyway.
