    Aiming to quit on the 17th as I finish with work and stress for a month. Plan is to ride and run till I am knackered. Eat and sleep and repeat. Might do the hardcore route that worked for me last time....get absolutely gutted on alcohol so I can't face the smell of a smoke for a few days! Such an easy habit to pick up on again with just a few drags on a smoke in a pub...

    I cycle past a dairy farm in my area...cows are in the boiling sun...no shade...calvea aren't with their mothers and the whole place smells of sh$t. Same with the feed lots. Lot of chicken farms here too. Stench is unreal. And i regularly find dead chickens dumped in the veld....not one or two but a truck load with the locals scavenging for something to eat. Makes you wonder why they are just dumped.... I quit eating eggs long before I stopped meat....got a nice embryo in my soft boiled egg...yummy...chicken periods...

    it's just a bit of a quest...I bought a momsen bike last year that I thought had a tapered steerer fork but the frames headtube is designed to look tapered and unfortunately the fork was straight steerer. I contacted many bike shops and eventually one managed to order me a RS Recon from the suppliers. Tapered is the more common standard now it would seem...not a Biggie but I thought when I bought the bike I would just simply upgrade the fork to something better when I knackered it up...! I should add that it was a straight steerer 9mm QR fork and most forks now are also thru axle...

    That's a straight steerer and I can attest after looking for a new fork for my Momsen that finding a fork for a straight steerer is a challenge...bear that in mind if you buy one with the intention to upgrade as time goes on...

    I had an earful from someone over the weekend as its 3 years since my ex left...and why don't I find someone else...and why don't I move on ....and why don't I make an effort....blah blah blah blah blah! If it wasn't my mates wench I would have just told them to sod off.... Why can't people accept that being single is a choice and for some, if something happens it happens, if it doesn't.....well bugger me....life still goes on and I can still ride my bike!

    Never really had major problems with second hand stuff, cars, computers, tools etc...my issues always to seem to come when I buy something new, probably an expectation thing...of expecting the new thing to work properly first time round!!

    My ex got married this weekend...I went to the local pub to meet a friend who visits here once in a while and have a drink (coke in my case!) and would you believe it that some of her mates were there and they took a certain delight in showing me her wedding pics....but you know you are over it when you can look at the pics and not really feel anything....(actually I lie.... there was a tiny bit of regret....like not buying more bikes when I had the chance!)

    Agree with the bold here....recently shopped around for a 2nd hand laptop, some idiots were asking more than I could find a NEW one online for! Pawn shops as well, crazy prices for second hand pieces of crap!

    Almost finished watching Falling Skies....I can't believe Steven Spielburg was part of this, dismal acting! But I don't have DSTV nor affordable internet so I just take what I can scrounge from people! Managed one season of Lethal Weapon as well....not sure if I will bother watching the second season.... Sat through a few seasons of Kitchen Nightmares as well last weekend, just reinforces my policy of not eating out these days!

    Bibs are cooler and certainly more comfy on long rides but I like shorts for that casual look if you are visiting someone/somewhere....(that is proper cycling shorts with the liner inside to it though! Not Mr Price rugby shorts...although as a kid its all I ever rode in really!)

    I was self employed while I was with my ex, her business covered mine when times were tight and vice versa....when she left I was depressed and my business took a knock from this...lost interest and didn't know which way I was going. Wound up being offered a job in a completely different industry and quite honestly I like it. New challenges and all that....its helped me find focus and carry on doing some studies...(and pay bills!!) Time... time sorts everything out, it won't erase the memories but it will make them slowly fade and haze out into the background....
