Maybe you should contact Holdfast for some assistance.  They helped me with a bracket once.

I will try this. Maybe i am doing something wrong when trying to pull each bracket tight. It feels like the downtube of each bike are far wider than the rubber clamps. So when you try and stretch the rubber over and hook in, its almost impossible. In my mind, if those clamps are wider, i could make it work. Maybe other makes like Thule have wider ones or better construction, no idea...But we gonna be doing a few races this year and its all i have to transport our 2 x bikes.

  2. Hi gents

I started using my hold fast 3 bike carrier [i only use it for 2 x bikes always] but the weird thing is, it seems those rubber clamps or fittings are not wide enough for our bikes anymore. I know these types of bike racks are the cheapest way to transport your bike, but its really not working. On my sons bike, the one rubber mount / clamp only fits over his rear shock, its not ideal at all. My hold fast is plenty years old, maybe they or others have made changes. Are they safe to transport 2 x carbon DS bikes, one medium, one large, that's all i need.

I dont have bucks to invest in a massive platform type, unless i find it second hand for a good price. The other thing is, when you driving, the hold fast starts to tilt due to the wind [wheels of bikes are exposed more on one side] This is also something i have struggled with. Maybe there is a solution to keep this rack and just make it work? The issue is the size of rubber clamps, you really have to pull hard to get them tight, then its a massive mission to just get them loose again...?

  3. A hardtail is always awesome when you need to put down instant power for a sprint, or getting away from a chasing dog. Since i got my Scott wc that Tri Lock must be [for me] the best lock out system ever. Once it is locked out, my bike basically feels like a hardtail. I often do long road sections, or long road uphill's, locked out, way more efficient in my view, or for me.

I know i am not really answering your question. But i am not really sure what you want. A hardtail though is so much fund, even a locked out dual cant replicate it, but as i said, if its about saving weight, not really sure the way forward for you [excuse the pun]

  4. My take after stage 2

First time Nino has had a proper partner, i like these two gents, got a feeling they might win this, or second.

Worried about Mat's partner, did you see how Mat looks a tad irritated after the stages, as if he knows he could have had a stronger guy with him, time will tell.

Bufmega are MEGA, they are always making jokes, these guys are strong, think they might take this.

Speed company, not sure at all, you never know, they might spring to life soon.

Tristen, honey comb, really hope they stay strong and try get closer to the above gents.

Punctures, breakdowns, can change everything. I see Nino is STILL on Aspens, hope they last.

Woman......i think Candice could have got a stronger partner, maybe taller as well 😐 But time will tell.

I think Ghost and Spez teams might take this, but really hoping Candice and Mona hang in there and maybe surprise everyone.

  5. When i did a bike fit they gave me 3 x test saddles, rode around a week or so, found out which one worked. To be honest, it worked from the get go, its not about 'getting used' to a saddle, it must feel comfy from day 1. Also, they did a proper sit bones measure and so on. I ended up with the Spez Phenom, my but did not enjoy the power saddle. Played around for 2 x weeks with regards to small tilts, up, down, until i felt 100%.

It was amazing but understimated the pass and suffered all the way up - managed to reach Uniondale and took a rest day to oudtshoorn - final stretch back tomorrow to George over Montaqu pass. Next time idd do George to Knysna to De Vlugt then Uniondale to De Rust - Oudtshoorn and George to complete

Thats a massive ride you did, long way back, maybe you will see some of the riders riding in the Momentum Medical Scheme Cape Pioneer Trek, presented by Biogen on your way back to George.  😁

  7. Hi guys, it looks like my wife will need to sell her scott spark contessa rc900 world cup.

On going neck issues, not allowed to cycle anymore 😞 Its completely standard, full carbon, carbon rims, extremely light as its a small, under 10kg i think.

Its a few years old. Attached is a pic from the nett, exact same bike, when i get home i will take decent pics and post on classifieds.

What do these go for now, between 40k and 50k or more?

  8. Slight hijack but related to XCO. Dam, how sad is this: https://news.sky.com/story/olympian-katie-archibald-fought-to-save-partner-rab-wardell-as-he-suffered-fatal-cardiac-arrest-12680390

Things like this freak me out. I have often went way to hard on races or more intense rides than i am used to and feel when i am back at home, the whole day, that it feels as if my heart rate is kind of elevated. For this to happen to a Pro is strange. Very sad comment from his wife / GF, shame man..
