  4. lol ill use the high pressure cleaner and restore to almost new
  5. That's about right, I had to replace my talas 20mm axel, it's a 2009 so not the one with the quick release skewer thingy, just a stock standard Alan key, was quoted R800 last year jan, after shopping around at every place I could find online etc I couldn't get one for less than R650 from a site in the US. Sorry to say a K doesn't sound outrageous no.
  6. i have just built up a set of wheel for my AM bike, am not sure if they will afll inot AM/Trail or downhill wheels but cost me about 5k to build up. the wheels are as follows: 1) hope pro Evo 2 front and rear hubs: R3100 from International Trade ( big thanks to Jason) 2) Dartmoor Raider Rims: R800 from Diald Bikes in CT 3) spokes and build R1150 ( Jason assisted with the build, not sure of the Spokes but have held up to a few jumps and some very rough riding with no issues at all) as i say not sure which category they fit into as the hubs are considered downhill and so are the rims in some circles but not in others. may be what you are looking for or not, me i love them.
  7. Broken!!!! i assume you are refering to the end/stop point of the deraileur?

  9. I agree 100% but not carry it myself, I carry 2 stun guns, 1 wand that dispenses 3500000 volts and a pistol that fires 2 shots 5m dispensing 2000000 volts, Electricity is a language every person understands!!!!
  10. The bike or the little guy in the background holding it up? Congrats and enjoy
  11. set the fork softer and bend your arms more allow for the bend in your arms to act as a shock absorbor taking the force off your hands, i don't mean stupid bent just a little and try as best possible to relax your grip. that will relax the strain on your hands a little.
  12. Eish I stand corected, at least I have learnt something new today, thanks Firozfx I feel smarter now!
  13. I am no engineer by any means but as far as I have been told a welded area is 9 times out of 10 stronger than a non welded area, I suppose the rational thought process is that there is more metal bonded together to make the weld and so it's stronger, my humble 2c would be if you are going to grind the weld flat etc for repaying then yes try do a heat treatment but if you are happy with a paint job covering a weld( for your sake I hope it's a nice tight neat one) then leave be and just go ride
  14. my latest to me from me for xmas pressie, set of hope evo 2 front and rear hubs, anodized red of coarse, Dartmoor raider rims in red to match the hubs, new black spokes and hope red QR skewer to match. man those are hot wheels!!!!
  15. I agree 99%with one exception, I have stated on the hub before and will time and time again, to mod your post slightly the 2 rules of business are: 1) the customer is always king, not always right, but .2) When the customer is wrong refer to rule 1. As others have said no matter how bad your day is, what the client has done or if you believe the world is actually going to end tomorrow, nobody in a service related industry, including sales has the right to disrespect a client in that way. What may have happened which I thought about is he was not talking to the OP and had a view that he was done with his interaction to client and made the statement in jest to a colleague/mate in the shop etc, this does change the situation from what the OP sees as the story but does not excuse the lack of response. As for the OP airing his opinion on a public forum, why the hell not, in South Africa I find the biggest problem is that people are complacent and do not tell people when something is wrong, public forum or not the op has a right to make his point, this is why big companies have teams of people search Hello Peter, Facebook, Twitter etc. A response is deserved if as stated the staff have a different story, the explanation will clear what the story is and restore the reputation of the store, for now all the silence is doing is fueling the fire that the attitude is wrong and customer service in the shop is shoddy. There are a few that Are telling a different side of their experience with Collin but the rest swear not to deal with the store again if they every have. In a business damage control ensures you do not end up on the big heap of failed business stories especially in an industry where competition is fierce and online shopping is hurting your business every day. Sorry rant off, my humble 2000000000000000000000 zim dollars!
  16. i ike this idea, come on who is in, i am a full blown soutie but for this i will put on my best i carnt likes to talk wif out an accent voice and ask some very long winded questions, like 20 min plus kinda long must say i have been in there before and was very far from blown away or over by the service, not bad per say but not god either, sorry to the OP its a *** on, me i would have had an apoplectic incident right there and then the neighbors would have heard.
  17. What a complete dick, it never ceases to amaze me hat people like this feel hey have a right to comment on something they know very little about. The whole tone of the article is aggressive towards white people, it's not even about the mass but slating whites at every chance. It does surprise me though the the author appears to be white himself. I have been riding critical for over a year now and have never had any feeling of superiority or aggression. I sincerely he this guy becomes a statistic sooner rather than later!
  18. I half fill my camelbak bladder the night before and freeze, apart from the first sip or 2 from the pipe while riding my water is always ice cold, with the exception of very long rides. My camelbak is the best money I have ever spent. Worth every cent!!.,
  19. A hard tail will try to prove the sadle can come out your mouth through your ass
  20. Ok so I came across this vid today, so I love the Discovery Chanel show unchained reaction and found this vid. All the athletes are sponsored by red bull as far as I can tell and the whole "contraception" is just very cool... Take a look:
  21. its because the spacers are wrong, the shimano spacers are slightly different to the ones needed for avid breaks, there are a few small differences such as the space between the holes, angle of the caliper mount etc. some brakes will fit no problem but others you will need to get the correct caliper spacers
  22. uh guys i hate to point this out but the fix's being described are fine for caliper alignment but will do nothing to correct if the lever has been pulled with the rotor out. for that you will need to remove the pads, usually a split pin or Allen bolt keeps them from falling out. once the pads are out take a spanner or something similar and force the pistons back into the caliper housing, replace pads and wheel the squeeze the brake lever till you feel resistance and see braking power being applied to the rotor. all done. unless i am mis-reading the OP?
  23. not to say the bike shop you are using is dishonest in anyway but i would mark the current spokes, a scratch each or something like that, and ask for the build, this way you are sure it is a rebuild not a fix job. as i say its not a lbs bashing session but its way to easy to say the wheel has been rebuilt when it has not. personally i dont trust anybody to build a wheel but JB, have yet to do a build with him but his ethics etc speak for themselves. if you have a spoke wrench you could even do the strip down yourself and only take in the hub and rim, some shops charge extra for the breakdown.
  24. fark, i really want to do this course!!!!! jOhann please pm when the next workshop will be,i hav ebeen wanting to attend since Jan.
