  1. Andrew Barrow is a good hand surgeon if it gets to that point. he did my wrist
  2. this honestly is the standard for RSA. we have shocking response times and customer care. i send out emails to 4 different suppliers looking for a quote on an item. only 1 responded. 3 weeks later i got the 2nd response. the other 2 companies never responded. you can copy paste the above experience in any industry in South Africa.
  3. Never argue with an idiot. they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
  4. This is nice to hear, as an old boy i am definitely going to give the leaderboard a go on the XCO loop. is it possible on a CX bike or is a MTB the better choice? CX makes for a nicer ride from my home as its mostly tar.
  5. has a pic been posted of the damage?
  6. i'll check it out. thanks i'm stuck in my ways, and have never thought about changing that up until now.
  7. parafin works wonders with a chain cleaner. better yet remove the chain and shake in in a coke bottle filled with the stuff. Question: how would your brake piston get stuck if its a sealed unit? my best are it was a shimano brake system? ultrasonic cleaner... nice...
  8. i get the feeling the Supercaliber is a perfect XC machine when being ridden at the highest level. it would be to focused a machine for 95% of the population who need to also do marathon and stage event racing. Great looking bikes, you have my enve. i'd have one in a heartbeat that i would use for short racing only. but for everything else i'd like something more forgiving
  9. i've been using diluted clean green for years.... no issues at all. that said i have never left it on the bike. rather a sponge bath over the frame and parts followed by a proper spray off. never had any issues
  10. I rent equipment to hospitals that in developed countries is seen as an essential. We often assist surgeons in getting approvals from medical aids for this equipment as in South Africa it is seen as a luxury. Long story short, Discovery agrees it forms a part of minimum benefit. Profmed (administered by medscheme) needs a motivation and all after that often declines. A side note: we also supply disposables to the hospital industry and each year when we apply for increases with Discovery we are first given lower than inflation and then have to fight often for months to get inflation. Taking into account time taken this negates the increase we fought for. They use their size and weight to bully suppliers into accepting this. If we do not accept, our products cannot be sold into hospitals as they are not "approved: and we as suppliers suffer. Nevermind we pay in forex and have to take into account our supplier increases. This practice is ensuring our margins have been slowly eroded over the years and is making doing business in the sector impossible. It's only time before medical treatment in RSA becomes sub-standard. I'd say as a country the private Healthcare sector might at best have 10 years left before you are better off leaving RSA for better safer treatment elsewhere. We have discontinued many brilliant products over the last few years as they become unprofitable. EDIT: fixed my terrible spelling. i posted this last night in the midsts of a migraine
  11. So bleak about Ashley's crash. really happened at the worst time
  12. ...and stay off my property!
  13. Had my 2014 scalpel at 9.8kgs with slime and pedals at one point. 2.25 tires on it at that time. Had cutting edge stuff with ax-lightness seatpost, wheels, bars and stem. And had a clavicular crank with integrated srm power meter. I'd be surprised if this s-works could not be made much lighter. That said, good choice on going axs, it is so much better than mechanical shifting. Even if it weighs slightly more
  14. I know Parlee charges USD100 per hour for custom paint. most bikes are between 4-6 hours of work.
  15. Snot rockets are frowned upon inside
  16. Aaaw yis
  17. If I see another Marriott add I'm going to puke
  18. DC is exciting news. holding thumbs!
  19. both need it. Stores stuck with excess stock of last year's models need to clear out(and release locked capital). individuals frustrated with lockdown are willing to try fill the void that is now 2020 with some feel good bargain retail therapy. its win win. and i want a new MTB (note, want not need). a good deal might tempt me
  20. the one one onedayonly, anyone have experience? does it basically use a hammer function?
  21. having recabled my Madone SLR i can confirm its a hack. but it worth it. the bike looks far far sexier with all the cables hidden
  22. I have to agree on fit fluctuations. I have a few of their race cut jerseys. Last one I ordered I had to send back for replacement because the left sleeve was so tight I could not get my arm through it. The right was fine. I actually measured them out and there was a good 4cm difference in circumference. Anyway, exchange was quick and their stuff serves me well. I'll still buy, I shop the sales. Makes them good value for money
  23. Shimano actually makes 2 versions of their shoes. standard and wide. you can also look at Gaerne
  24. i'll be honest i opened this thread expecting to see another cracked cannondale
