Hi - I have a new RAVEMEN light that I WON, so unsure who SELLS them, a search leaves me empty handed...

Looking for 2 more light MOUNTS (only the mounts) since this light is so good, it may become my 'forever' light...!

Cannot find a local distributor - anyone got any ideas, before I try importing 2x?

    thanks

Cape Cycle Systems used to distribute them, doesn't look like they do anymore.

I have a spare handlebar mount lying around somewhere - you can DM me if you want it.

The account of events I heard that it was around 09h00 and about 500m around the corner from the Chapmanspeak Hotel, at the first rise in incline as you start on Chappies. One perp in the road, grabbed her gravel bike, she fell and hit her head. She's concussed, and unclear about the sequence of events from there on. She did not sustain serious injuries.

What confuses me is that it is said the perp disappeared into the squatter camp with her bike, but I'm not aware of any squatter camps in that immediate area??

@Duane_Bosch post above clears up the location etc. Thanks to him for helping her out and thinking better of going into IY alone!

Yesterday morning at 7.30 my friend got mugged on Hout Bay main road at graveyard towards the IY circle.  So not far from the Hout Bay police station  He was stopped by somebody pretending to cross the road and he was then descended upon by a large group.  They hit him over the head with a metal pole.  His helmet saved him.  They took his bike and phone.  Once bike and phone was taken the assaillants left but one of them came back with a machete/ panga and took another swipe at him aimed at his neck.  Luckily the blow didn't connect properly.

Incident has been reported to police and case has been opened.

Stay away from the Graveyard near the circle at IY in Hout Bay.  It's not safe.  Rather go down Valley Drive/ World of Birds.

A top female cyclist was attacked in Hout Bay yesterday and left unconscious next to the roadway, MO sounded exactly the same as above. I believe she is okay, injury wise. The perps stole a Trek Checkpoint and all accessories.  I am not sure of the exact location or time but assume for now it was the same area. Be very careful out there folks.

  4. I had my Scott Spark removed from me while out riding in April 2022: https://bikehub.co.za/stolen-bikes/2129/scott-spark-world-cup-axs-2021

It was quite a weird journey for 2 reasons:

    1. My insurer at the time, Santam, did their best to reject the claim for a multitude of illegitimate reasons. It was a massive fight to get the payout. We eventually took the case to their own internal ombudsman who found fault in all their decision making. And a long 7 months after the theft they eventually paid out. Needless to say I will never deal with Santam again.
    2. Heres the interesting part.. 3 Days after this claim was paid out - or 7 months and 3 days since the theft - I got a call from Johan at Bike Addict (legends) to say they think they have my bike in the store, someone is there trying to sell it (The person was not tall and my bike is XL among other red flags) so they searched the Bikehub stolen bike section and found my post (smart lads - hats off to you guys). The cops were called and it turned out this guy had a proof of purchase from none other than Cash Crusaders Goodwood (for less then 10% of the bikes actual value🤯). For perspective the bike had been gone for 7 months only to surface at Cash Crusaders then end up at Bike Addict, and then eventually a store room at Malmesbury SAPS. I let the inept bunch at Santam know the bike has been found (They were rather surprised and the assessor actually said they had never had that happen before), then they tell me "oh can you go uplift it so we can collect it from you". I replied "no I won't be doing that, unless you decide to sell it back to me (which they declined multiple times), you can go collect it". And so it sat at Malmesbury SAPS for another 3 or 4 months until the station commander decided it was too risky having such an expensive bike just lying around and needed to go to Kirstenhof SAPS (where the case was opened). Eventually Santam had a salvage company (Unicorn Salvage) collect the bike, the special individual at Unicorn salvage offered it back to me for the retail price of a new bike (because CWC told him thats what it was worth), so I kindly declined. They even came back looking for the AXS charger almost a year after the theft😂. If anyone out there did buy it, I hope its treating you well - its been through a lot 😆

All in all it was an eventful time that I hope to not experience again soon..

  5. I haven't been as lucky in my experience, can't really fault boa for this. Seems my package went to the ol' trusty SAPO instead of coming via a courier. I've tried calling them (lol) and tracking via their online portal (bigger lol), anyone know a trick? image.png.2037dbcf42808c4fbc957b940eca6cf7.png

Mate was robbed last night just after the start of Alphen Hill at 5:10pm, Just as the road turns left and goes up after the hotel. Taxi came from infront, cut them off, essentially boxed him in with the pavement, passenger got out with a gun, mate dropped his bike and ran across the road onto the grass area. Our other mate who was with him managed to turn around and bolted back down the hill.

2 other friends were further up the road just past the split and never saw the taxi so we assume the taxi came from the Hohenhoort side, straight up to the stop street, then straight over which is where they managed to block my mates. Scary part is i was supposed to be with them but I ran late as I had a puncture at home and had to change a tube first.

Same MO as the taxi attcaks on Spaansies so I believe it's too much of a coincidence and therefore it's the same taxi.

They are so brazen now, doesn't matter what time of the day it is or if you are in a group or not. Crazy.

  7. Wow, this is getting out of hand. I am convinced its the same group of 3 that bike jacked me in April this year, now they have a more suitable vehicle to fit a bike in it.

The general public aren't aware of these incidents it seems, it's quite easy to create some awareness by posting them on the community and NHW facebook groups. There were a couple car break-ins in Dennendal West at the forest and next thing there was a mobile camera set up - and the chap was caught not too long after.

    So Sorry to hear bro.

Any idea where along the M3? That could help you distinguish if the Taxi had turned right onto the M3 from Tokai Road toward Steenberg or left toward Wynberg. Usually Taxi's dont ride off their routes, So if it was a Westlake Taxi, You could possibly go to the circle just before entering Westlake Business Park as they have camera at the security booms, Perhaps the shopping centre on the left also have cameras which can spot passing by vehicles too.

Good point, Tokai Road also has a number of camera's operated by the neighbourhood watch - you can request for them to review the footage. @Sibo

  9. Another incident at Tokai circle this morning as received from Whatsapp - same MO :

    Hi everyone,
This morning at 6 a.m. a good friend of mine was hijacked at Tokai roundabout!
    3 f@&ckwhits jumped him from a Taxi.
Fortunately he wasn’t hurt and didn’t try to fight for his bike - Specialized Tarmac.
Seems that riding early alone is not such a good idea.
Be aware and be safe out there.

Did you service it?  Its a very simple task to do.

Of course, even replaced the clutch. It always had a 'dead spot' in it where the derailleur cage could move just enough to cause some bad chain slap. Shimano denied a warranty.

just a word if warning.Cluster is brilliant, rear derailers are absolutely sh!t.

Dont take my word for it,just Google “shimano xtr derailer clutch problems “

The clutch went to hell on my XTR M9100 derailleur after 2 rides!!

  12. On Sunday Morning at 6h15 on Orpen road Tokai, I got aggressively forced off the road by a sedan car with several occupants (I couldn't tell how many through the tinted windows). Knowing what can potentially happen in these situations I decided to drop my bike and make a run for it and jumped the fence into the Tokai plantation. They grabbed the bike and sped off in the Tokai / Westlake direction.

If you see a bargain Scott Spark World Cup AXS in Extra Large, its probably mine :(
