  1. Wind was hectic here yesterday for the race. 35km/hr at least. The swim was challenging with a big chop from the wind and the outgoing tide having a big current. On the bike, from coming into town and all the way out to the turn around was a shifting headwind. It was very difficult handling on the bike, especially if in the extensions. Legs and body core were finished by the time it came to the run, you could see many suffering on the run, myself included. One of the hardest Ironmans I have done
  2. It will start to eat into the WHOOP market at this price point, if it can give Ai insight on health metrics and recommendations with regard to adjusting daily training load/rest etc

  4. If you watch when Pog attacked, MVDP, Gana and the French guy went with him, in the distance behind you could see Pidcock try to go and bridge up to these 4, but couldn't and sat down
  5. MVP !!!
  6. The guy sold it because he had to have knee op and changed to an Apple watch. So I got it for a bargain. I have had it for 4 months now with full training for racing IMSA next week. Have had no problems with it and heavy usage in the last 6 weeks, so lots of GPS use and charge about once a week. I do use an Edge 130 plus for cycling, so has been mainly used for running, open water swimming and as my watch.
  7. I picked up a Garmin 255 for R3k on FB marketplace and it was only 6 months old. I had a F945 for 5yrs, it was bomb proof as a triathlete doing 3 disciplines almost daily. I wanted something which recorded HRV and a few other health metrics etc as the F945 didn't and could not justify upgrading to the F955 or F965. I don't need the maps, or the Amoled, so happily downgraded to a 255, with slightly less battery (minimal) and no maps, but still capable of doing a full Ironman event and having plenty of battery. And I now have additional health metrics that I can monitor.
  8. A couple of times recently, I ordered on Ali expecting to go through SAPO and the items were actually couriered similar to Temu, Not as fast as Temu, so maybe they have changed to try and compete with Temu. I did not choose a courier option, just whatever was stated for shipping to SA.
  9. F3 - 3yrs, was still working, sold it F5 - 2yrs, was still working, sold it F945 - 5yrs, recently sold it Now have the F255, which I picked up cheap, I expect it to also last years. For me, I have not suffered with garmin issues and that includes the Edge 500, 520 and 130 plus over the years
  10. You can use https://www.activityfix.com/ and set up rules based on each bike sensors and will automatically amend after each upload to strava

  14. More that it is out of control and the Kenyan doping agency is failing due to budget cuts https://www.wada-ama.org/en/news/wada-optimistic-kenyan-government-will-reconsider-budget-cuts-anti-doping-program https://athleticsillustrated.com/chaos-in-kenya-doping-is-out-of-control/
  15. If buying a new crank and it is for your wife, also consider getting shorter crank arms, either 170 or 165mm, She will be able to spin easier on the hills
  16. You have been here long enough to know that the original community is no longer, it left the building not long after the great bikehub crash and a lot of the long standing members hardly contribute to the community as the sole was ripped out when NCR topics etc were removed and it transitioned to classifieds, with a limited community involvement. Whilst I have not been here as long as some, I have been long enough to see the change, not only in the bikehub site, but the community as well as the "deteriorating classified culture", and many of the older hubbers have moved on and have limited or to no involvement in the community with the change. Many do not post as much as they use to, myself included. All I am pointing out, if someone has beef with dealers being here on a selling site which happens to have a community, they need to compare apples with apples and see that dealers are ALLOWED here and have to pay to for that privilege, whereas individuals don't. Likewise, I pop in now and again looking for something I need, or selling something, and occasionally talk *** 😉
  17. Registered dealers have to pay to sell https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/dealer-and-retail-sales and private sellers do not https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/sell-on-bike-hub. Whether you like it or not, bikehub is now for classifieds that happens to have a community. You could argue that bikehub owners are using you, me and everyone else in the community to legitimize the classifieds as people see a community and feel more comfortable buying or selling here. Irrespective, dealers have the right to be here, they are registered and pay the bikehub owners accordingly to make a living!

  20. I suspect the target market with Nic at Olympic Cycles is not the bikehub
  21. Alan/JA also missed an opportunity when Stefan de Bod rode off the front of his group and solo TT to the front group, then finished 10th in the sprint. There was an opportunity for a small group to go with Stefan, but no one did. Maybe Alan wasn't feeling it on the day and why they tried for the sprint win.

  24. 4 bigger race wins in 4 yrs, the other TP does that as pre TdF warmup without even trying. Pidcock is expecting a similar salary to TP, WvA, MvP and is not really in the same league on the road. Potential is there, but seems to be either hot or cold on how he wants to play it on the day and not how the leam wants the race ridden. On the road he has one good race/stage, does not work for the team like the others do, and they are even happy to forgo their status to achieve a team result. When MvP & WvA are racing hard in cyclocross, he may mix it up and get the occasional win, but 8 out of 10 times he is 3rd. His only real standout is MTB but only when he picks and chooses races that he believes will suit him. Q36.5 are probably looking to up their status and get more wild card entries to the GT's and will likely leave Pidcock to stage hunt on his own as there won't be a team to support him. Maybe his inclusion will pull in more sponsorship, so that they can build a team, but likely to be a long term thing.... and I doubt the relationship will last that long. Toys may well be thrown well before then. I suspect the palmares will stay heavily weighted to MTB rather than road
  25. 1. Have a budget 2. Know your bike size, get some advice on this either from a couple of bike shops or a get a professional bike fit. Depending where you are you can ask for recommendations for who to go to see for a bike fit. 3, Knowing the above 2, choose bikes you like the look of. If you like the way it looks, you will ride it more. 4. A bike won't improve your fitness, riding it and spending time in the saddle will, you can do that on any bike. If you choose a bike because of item 3, you will likely ride it more. 5. Once you have narrowed down to a couple of bikes of choice then look at components and do some online search of reviews of the bike. 6. Then you might want to ask here what peoples views are of 2 or 3 bikes, and not 14 or so. Then you will get better feedback. At the end of the day, any bike can be used for social rides and you can race on it.
