That looks really good but it looks like you need a Fizik saddle.
New EDC Lite from OneUp also looks like an elegant solution.
Far or Farr too many punctures?
Sorry, its been a long day...
Removed mine after a handfull of rides. Lots of punctures - far too many for whay they weigh!
This almost sounds like a philosophical thought experiment along the lines of:
"If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"
I think most participants would rather do the event without spectators than not do it at all, as others have stated the logistics around race villages might be tricky one to solve.
I really love riding there and wouldn't mind being able to so a bit more. The format of the event was good and it was a proper weekend with friends. We did the 30 km on Saturday and the 45 km on Sunday, as most people have said it is tough but so rewarding.
Thanks to the organisers, I'll be back again in whatever format they put on the event.
PS.
Can we please have the option of camping at Mouton Farm?
Struggling to drop weight and I've been better at skipping snacks...
I'm like a diesel engine, I can go on for ever but I'm very "fuel efficient".
Still trying to get to double figures by the end of the year.
I do hope/think they might bring in other models, I've seen quite a few new Enduros around and it doesn't look like they are bringing them in "officially".
I do wonder what is the ratio between "digital" (Levo) and "analogue" (Stumpjumper) sales locally, I suspect Levos might outsell Stumpjumpers by quite a margin.
This could be a good topic for a petition...
I agree and it boggles my mind as well, I would have seriously considered a mid spec aluminium Stumpjumper for my next bike but seems I have to look elsewhere. It would also be nice if they did swat on alloy bikes, Trek managed to do it for the Slash.
I suspect/hope Specialized SA is sitting with plenty of current model Stumpjumper stock that they first want to clear.
Eks nogals opgewonde en hoop dis 'n lekker tydskrif. Sal verseker loer op die rakke en koop.
Laat weet maar waar/hoe ons bietjie stories kan deel.
I love my EDC Tool and I see they have launched a new version... I haven't used the chain breaker but the upgraded steel version does seem to make sense.
WOW...I really cant say how awesome this was. @Christofisen
This is real Mountain Biking! And to me as an out of towner, the experience was amplified so much more. The Videos you posted does no justice to these trails. Also, the fact that you are quite the ripper yourself hides what it really takes.
Witfontein is a proper venue, and so refreshing to just plow straight down a mountain over rocks and loamy goodness using all of my bike in the process. Not switchback after switchback which has its merit, but the loamy confidence inspiring surface just made for such thrills.
- New trails
- New landscape to behold
- Different soil & terrain
- Great people
- Great variety of trails, I honestly didn't mind stage 3. It took skill to maintain speed but was not out of place.
- Although not a lot of "purely death defying GNAR" I was far happier being able to go fast over the reasonably Gnarly & proper steep stuff which actually leaves one feeling better. Testament to really great trails.
I hope you got out of it what you put in Because we are going to have to come back next year and make it an annual thing.
We need more out of town (further than 100km from Cape Town) events like this.
*The last photo was taken from Deidre Clute's FB. I have contacted her to find out where one can get hold of the photos and pay as there are many more awesome shots with hubbers.
Is that a "Muishond" I spot...
Reviving an old thread, what is the rear axle spacing on these bikes?
What is wrong with your "dream bike" that you are selling it so soon?
This could have been the Bikehub version of the Grim Donut!
https://www.pinkbike.com/news/video-the-grim-donut-part-2-the-right-amount-of-stupid.html
I think it's about time bikehub does a "Bleek Koeksister" build.
Hi Cliff
I rode at Klipheuwel quite a while ago, it wasn't great but its not that bad.
It depends on what you consider close. GRTP or Witfontein might be your best bet but a bit of a drive.
Can a dropper post remote work? I see Wolftooth makes a 31.8 mm clamp version and you could Evobikes.
I couldn’t sleep the firts night I had my new machine, all that tasting is a lot of caffeine.
Oooh lekker!
Now it's the fun part where you write off a bag of beans (and milk if you roll like that) while playing with it to dial it in. Enjoy!
I had my Kona frame welded with a plate to enforce it up a few years back, luckily the agents/Kona was willing to let me do this while I waited for a replacement frame. The toptube had a crack and it was quite a sketchy ride back home after the initial crack.
I got an old Russel Hobbs Espresso machine from my dad and intend to use it at work. Any tips on getting the most out of it? Should I "temperature surf" it like my Silvia?
It looks like the same frame as the current one so no massive media launches etc.
Model years are becoming really weird, we have 4 months left of the year and 2021 models start selling.
It is quite expensive but I was very lucky that my friends bought it for me as a birthday present last year.
Hansolo I didn't include Oneup in my list as it seems scarce to get, but I do like the idea, although it seems expensive. But I will definitely look into it. Will try to find out who has stock and who can tap my steerer tube.
I might have some more questions about the different products. Thanks
I recently discovered "From The Top" by CyclingTips, really cool stories on how SRAM, Strava, Rapha, Canyon etc. got started.

Garmin Edge 705 - replacement battery?
in Technical Q&A
Posted · Edited by hansolo
Reviving an old thread...
A friend recently gave me a 705 that needed a new battery. I started looking into replacements and wasn't keen on importing a battery and going through all the hassles so I replaced the battery with similar item from Communica. We did have to do some soldering and figure out how the pins connect but it booted up.
https://www.communica.co.za/products/li-poly-battery-3-7v-1100mah
I might loose out on some battery life but at R160 and with a bit of work, I have a 705 running.
