  1. Fakes, sent me a private mail with your email address and I will forward you an article with all the basics nicely explained. Alternatively contact a coach (Maryke on thehub is apparently good).
  2. Not a road cyclist, i.e. lack the emotional connection to the brand. I will, and do pay, for the best quality I can afford. Good luck with the brand in mtb´ing world. Sure looking forward to seeing one on the trail!
  3. Colin H: on this forum it is bad for your health to admit to smoking!
  4. You pay what you want to pay. If you can´t afford it you´re stupid to buy it, and it will come back to haunt you sometime in the future. The argument of me beating you on my R1000 Score special is irrelevant. Some people made a choice to put careers/work before hobbies, it is there right to buy what they can afford (and for us to buy on second hand market or wait for the technology to trickle down to more affordable models). Thanks to them (the big spenders) the manufactures are willing to push the envelope and spent on R&D. Personnaly I will not spent more than my after tax monthly salary on cycling (all inclusive - not only the bike) per year. Next time I see a uber sweet bike I will respond with a Wow!, the same way as I respond when a guy flashes past me when I am pushing really hard.
  5. My advice is to sell your computer (or bicycle) on thehub and claim it is like new with only 500km on the clock
  6. Integrated seat post! Very cool B) Yes, age-old weight saving trick!
  7. Every time I visit SA I am suprise how "big-boned" we are! My old school buddies are convinced I must be sick since I weight relatively the same as back in school (odd 20 years ago) The other day I went to the US to visit some suppliers in various states - came away with two conclusions: Colorado is absolutely stunning scenic wise and US women are getting fatter (didn´t thought it possible)
  8. Had mine for two years - no problems and are still as smooth as when I purchased them. Also look at XTR or XT hubs if reliability is your concern - I have XTR hubs on an older bike in excess of 5 years and they are excellent (I have serviced them twice - done myself since it is so easy with Shimano: old but proven technology)
  9. And we beat Australia!!!
  10. I did not do the calculation but estimate SA would have been top 5 if the Women rider´s time is excluded. Bright future for SA mtb´íng Note: I am not bashing Yolande, she is highly rated imo
  11. Go carbon if you can afford it, it does make a big difference. If it will result in you entering less races/rides (since you have less money), it is not worth it. Riding your bike is better than having the latest and greatest
  12. My wife excepts me having to vent work frustration on training/cycling. She also knows when I am looking at some girl cycling I am checking the bike out more than the girl! All my saved favourite internet sites are either work or cycle related. Money wise? As I said in a previous thread I (we) have been spending more money on wine the last two years. Time? This is sometimes an issue - especially on week-ends, I have skipped watching TV completely and train very early in the mornings, we also do alot of stuff together (prepare food, drink the above wine, etc.)
  13. Never really got along with an XTC I bought as a frame (this was some time ago). Saw a new 2011 XTC alu frame this week-end. A very well made frame, Giant really understand alu and working/forming it. If I have the opportunity would like to ride it, doubt it if I will buy it taken all the other options available.
  14. Visit the site, it is a laugh a minute, check this headline: "Local Water Tower Celebrates 50th Year As Repository Of Information On Who Is A Slut" According to University of Missouri historian Elliot Torcello, the remarkably well- preserved tower is recognized throughout the region as an indispensable archive detailing which women in the area are promiscuous, as well as whether or not they have crabs. I´ll investigate further - it might even be better than thehub
  15. Check the link below the Lance article - "164 Closeted Gay Men Having Impressive NFL Preseason" Onion Sports Network (OSN) probably stands for the tears in your eyes when reading the proffesional articles.
  16. Select your reason for choosing thehub icon amongst all the other favourite websites?
  17. I can recommend attending the service workshop, you have a good chat, learn how to service your shocks and get your shock service as well.
  18. I´ve seen numerous problems with FSA bearings from hubbers, my experience is different: In Brazil (where I currently reside) we are a bunch of people riding FSA with no problems whatsoever. I have been using the ceramic versions for 2 years. Believe me Brazil is more muddy than SA!
  19. Agree with S2S above regarding the importance of recovery. I have found active recovery (just turning the cranks for 1/2 hour on the trainer) on rest days even more beneficial than just laying-about on the coach. It can get boring so ensure there is some entertainment on the telly.
  20. Ask her to measure you also - could be more fun than cycling I have some experience with a Blur, in my opinion a medium will be too small for you
  21. Your correct, the term UST is a trademark of Mavic. All other are marketed as tubeless rims (e.g. Shimano) or tubeless ready. Same applies to the tyres, if I remember correctly UST was developed by Michelin and Mavic. Issue of royalties.
  22. All really good (big) forums have basic rules. Stick to relevant topics, ban personal attacks, don't allow blatant personal marketing and don't allow swearing or pornography! I agree with the above, as a result I only use thehub for entertainment value. If I require any serious cycling information I visit some other cycling forums.
  23. Let´s face it - cycling is not a "speedo" look sport... Ignore them, stuff your face full of food at get togethers and see them in agony
  24. I owe a pair of Specialized Pro Mtb shoes from 2005, bought them new for the 2005 Cape Epic. Used them for a Sani2C, Sabie stage race and various other stage and one-day races. Only used for racing till 2008 when I bought new racing shoes. Still have them today as training shoes, the racing replacements (Specialized SWorks) are less durable in my view. Will probably get rid of them before the year-end. Pretty beat-up soles but uppers still fine. Had to replace one of the fasteners (one of those click mechs) due to a fall in 2006. I cycle +/- 10 hours per week
  25. Spot the error (or should it be error the spot)
