  1. Edge 130 is about the best entry level Garmin unit that will work with the Varia or Magene units. I have one for not (that many) many ZARS if you'd like. 530 has some vary useful training metrics added on (and is the reason I'm not using the 130 anymore) but is about double the price on the second hand market.
  2. Hard to say without the problem in front of me, but in order of likelihood: 1. You've bent the lever. Crash damage, bike upside down for trailside repair, introduction of knee or other hard body part. 2. It's just worn out. Pin groove or bushing is knackered. 3. Initial cable tension assessment incorrect. I've fixed many of these, but sometimes replacement is the only way.
  3. ^^ With a MTB, weight is your main consideration unless you feel like endless faff with the oversized and overweight baggage departments wherever you travel. For trail and enduro bikes even the Evoc and Thule options can push you over the limit.
  4. Plenty. Same question as always though, what hubs?
  5. I've had mixed experiences with the Levels. Some sets are great, some are pants. Still haven't figured out why.
  6. Lever rebuild time. Could be a number of reasons for it, but in my experience it's mostly just not bleeding them often enough, and even if you do it'll still need new pistons eventually. At least with the SRAM levers you can get spares. Shimano you'll be replacing the whole lever.
  7. The biggest difference here is geometry - I've tried long days out on the big bike and it hurts, but mostly because the big bike is designed to either go up or down. Flat is murder in terms of pedalling dynamics and riding position, so you end up being way more fatigued after 2 or 3 hours in the saddle than you would on a bike that's designed to do distance. Look at the earlier example of the base spec Cypher - the 11kg one will be quicker, but the 15kg odd one will pants a trail or enduro bike for anything over a 2 hour ride.
  8. I've got Assegai, Dissector and DHR2 in a few casing variants, but mostly because I hoard whatever I can when I can. The more XC oriented stuff is harder to get hold of.
  9. 275 are thin on the ground at the moment from all suppliers, not just Maxxis. Rekon Race 2.25" is available, but only in wirebead so no tubeless for you... and Rekon only in 2.6". Ikon is available in 275 x 2.2 and 2.35 EXO, and I've got Dissectors in 2.4" EXO+.
  10. Somewhere in the world's design curricula someone needs to add a module called "hubless wheels don't work on bikes, and they're not as original as you think". /rant
  11. The Garmin strap portion lasts me between 1 and 2 years before I start getting dropouts in the readings, especially when it's cold. Rinsing in the shower after every ride will get me closer to 2 years, washing machines or forgetting it in the ride bag too often will get me closer to 1.

  13. Hooker Green sounds like a blues guitarist from Mississippi.
  14. OneUp have turquoise pedals and grips in stock, which may be close enough. If he can tell the difference you may have a tetrachromat on your hands, and he should consider a career in film grading or design...
  15. For the price you won't find much better. They're not the lightest or best specced things out there, but they do exactly what they say on the tin and the backup is good.
  16. SidLuxe are on/off. If you want 3pos you'll need a new shock.
  17. OP, listen to this man. He has fixed many a bike in his time and his methodology is bang on in this case. If the hanger is straight, it may be that the cage is bent from a rock strike, transport, someone knocking the bike over in the garage, etc. As to anyone saying get Shimano because it's better - both systems can fail. Neither is better, they're just variations on a theme. (My guess would be that your RD fixing bolt is loose, but without seeing your bike I couldn't say exactly)
  18. We're going to need some sources here I reckon...
  19. I feel I should qualify my last post - if you're listening to music while riding, they make a great budget alternative to Shokz and the like - none of the bone conduction headsets I've tried have any useful bass response IMO. But I don't run or ride with headphones on, so I don't need that combination of sound quality and the ability to hear what's going on.
  20. https://www.giant-bicycles.com/int/power-pro-power-meter-ultegra-r8000-2020 There's a newer one as well, can't find it on the Giant site though.
  21. Already happened, Giant branded Ultegra PMs have been around for a while. And substantially cheaper than the Stages ones.
  22. Poo. These aren't even bone conduction, they're air conduction. I use mine for phone calls in the workshop and they're great for that, but for music I'd rather look at an in-ear option. That said, I'm a 3rd generation audiophile so YMMV.
  23. Yup. They dropped them about a year ago, no useful spares to be had anymore. Import or fabricate, sadly. I'd love another GoPro mount for my 1000lm roadie / headlight, but sadly it's not gonna happen locally.
  24. If you don't look after your stuff you forfeit your right to bleat when it breaks. I have seen many a bike wrecked this way, and the perpetrators are usually the ones that make the most noise about the repair quotes. As to your second point - show me a mechanic that rides anything fancier than GX or XT.
