  1. I have yet to go but have been recommended to Deno van Heerden from BikeFit in Ballito. Just waiting for my new bike so don't have to do it twice. You will find his details on Facebook.
  2. I started sneezing and coughing on Friday so did not ride Saturday. Took some Benylin on Sunday and went for a very easy 40km ride. Got home and wiped out on the bed for 8 hours! Got up to have hot bath, felt a bit dizzy. Next thing flat on the floor! Slept it off and feeling a bit better today. No riding for me for the week!
  3. So now I have to wait until the end of the year. Was about to trade my 2013 Scultura EVO DA in for a 2015 Reacto.
  4. Interesting story on how my dad got this watch. Some of you older guys may remember the Charcoal Haven Restaurant near South Beach in Durban. We owned that. Well, for a week, an out-of-town customer came in every night an would order a T-Bone steak and a beer. He always paid cash. Then, on the last night, when it came time to pay the bill, he realised he had forgotten his wallet at his hotel, so he left this watch and a massive solid silver bracelet as security while he walked back to the hotel to fetch it. We never saw him again! Back then, the bill for his meal would have been less than R10.00!
  5. Finally! Was wondering when we were going to see these boys grace us with their presence.
  6. 1969 Omega Flightmaster. Passed down from my dad.
  7. I popped in to PPA yesterday on the way to the airport back to Durban yesterday to look at the new shirts. Very nice! Good quality and nice slim fit. Sizing is a bit on the small side (your will need to get 1 size up from your normal shirt size) but they look very cool. Bought 1 for each of the 5 of us in my morning training group. The yellow is not the same as the old 1.5m shorts. It is now a Lumo yello.
  8. Quite a clever tweak to the old "Stay alive at 1.5" campaign given that the law in Cape Town is now only 1.0m gap. Think I might just buy one of these.
  9. For when you tell your wife you're about to spend R100k on a new bike and she says, "iyour dreams"! n
  10. Just remember to have it re-programmed back to Racetec before your next race. When they did that at Karkloof, it would have wiped off the previous data.
  11. Contact Dragon Sports. They are the agents. Llewellyn Jooste is the guy to speak to. 15 Solan Road, Gardens, Cape Town, 8001 | PO Box 12031, Mill Street, 8010 ( Office: +27 (0) 21 461-6252 | ( Fax: +27 (0) 86 6969-3097 | * e-mail: llewellyn@dragons.co.za | ÿ website: www.dragons.co.za I had to dig to find his details when my Mavic wheels had a problem, but if you nag him enough, he will make a plan. Just a warning, these guys do NOTHING for NOTHING. Customer goodwill is not high on their agenda.
  12. I looked for the red and yellow helmets ever day. Baie Trots.
  13. When I get the hunger pangs, I just drink water. Lots of it. I try fill my stomach so that I don't feel hungry. I also drink a glass of water before eating and another while eating. Dieticians used to frown on this, now suddenly they are advocating it.
  14. 20 years of experience and studying. I"m happy to take his advice. To be fair though, he says that smoking is far worse than anything you do or don't eat.
  15. By the way, my buddy who is a cardiologist, says any high fat diet is just bad news!
  16. I lost 25kgs doing a combination of LCLowF and 150 -200kms of a cycling a week. The 1st 15kgs took 6 months, the last 10kgs took a year. When I got to my goal weight, I started taking USN LipoXT (only 2 capsules before breakfast M-F), as, as thin as I was (75kgs, 179cm), I could not lose the tummy. I also started letting some carbs back into my diet (2 slices of low GI bread at lunch and some potato or pasta at night). I have since lost most of the tummy but have only gained 2 kgs and have now managed to keep that weight for 2 years. Even when I cut down to 100kms a week in winter, I reckon the LipoXT helped keep the winter layer away. However, you have to find the balance amongst all three AND adapt to an new eating/exercise lifestyle to keep the weight off permanently.
  17. Same problem for me. Training wheels are Fulcrum PRC's and Racing wheels are Mavic Cosmic SL's. 3 turns of the barrel adjuster either way. Forgot to do it this morning and bike sounded like a tractor!
  18. Just heard on Vuelta commentary that Giovanni Pinarello, the founder of Pinarello (the real ones) passed away yesterday at age 93. Team Sky all wearing black patches on their sleeves is a sign of respect.
  19. I'm confused. Do you poep in the shower???????
  20. No ways boet! Of the 106kms over 44kms are uphill including the first 16kms. There is a common belief that Durban might actually be higher than PMB!
  21. Climbing is not my problem. Staying with a group is my nemesis. I always seem to fall off the back of the bus.
  22. So, I am coming to Cape Town for my daughter's birthday in October. Turns out it is the same weekend as the 1 Tonner. I was going to have a chillax looong weekend after doing, hopefully, a sub 3.30 AmaShova the weekend before, but this one is tempting me now and I will be there anyway. Will my legs hold up on Hellshoogte? Is the extra 54kms more than 'Shova going to kill me. Apparently the Westcoast race at Langebaan is also that weekend. Which is the better race?
