  1. It's nice when all your projects are sponsored. As soon as something is trending with one tuber, the rest follow suit. The quality of the content goes down as all of them just do what generates the most views.
  2. Noticed lately woodworktubers having a huge boner for aluminium extrusions.
  3. Whenever I read something about Raceface carbon cranks, it's about them failing.
  4. More like Monster and Mountain Dew instead of Redbull. Still funny AF tho.
  5. Think that's the way to go for most service type businesses. Start small in your free time and save as much cash as possible whilst slowly expanding and acquiring your tools/equipment etc. Once you can't keep up with demand, use that savings to expand your setup or quit your current job and go full in. If your business management skills are up to the task, you should be able to grow and self-fund your growth, working capital etc, whilst having cashflow to keep going and make a living. Looking at how bicycle shops look nowadays, it's not just an old little shop with bicycles stacked everywhere and a small glass counter. These things look like car showrooms and try to offer much more than just a shop. The more of them that follow the trend, it'll become the norm of customers' expectations.
  6. Why would you want to do that? Weight savings is negligible, although cost might be a factor. In theory, quad piston calipers give better modulation. On the rear that helps with controlling speed. But with that said, it all depends if one can actually feel/notice the difference in performance.
  7. That's because most people's default message on marketplace is set to; "Hello, is it still available." So you literally just have to push send.
  8. It's just strange that a large percentage of the population has absolutely no self awareness and when they see this same behavior in others they feel singled out and have need to be offended or outraged.
  9. The timing on Greenland's finish really threw me off. It looked like it went from 3:07 to 3:08, but then it jumped back to 3:07.9 all the sudden. Even the log on the display there showed his time as 3:08.2, which would've placed him in 3rd. Dunno if it's just me.
  10. Every night for the last 10+ years.
  11. Lovesick was great, reminds me a bit of the old 90s British romcoms with Hugh Grant Started watching Happy! Reminds me of Deadpool, instantly hooked on the violence, even though I'm not too big on gratuitous action.
  12. Out of curiosity, yeah I'd definitely go for the epoxy route. You'd be surprised how strong an epoxied joint can hold sometimes. Just clean up all the mating surfaces properly. A nice 20% climb will tell you if it's going to last or not.
  13. Only upgrade parts if you're going to transfer them to a new bike/frame down the line, or are willing to take a huge knock in resale. Generally you won't get your money back for any upgrades, especially on old 26 bikes. Going from 26 to 27.5 will most likely not be worth it. New fork/wheels/tyres will not come cheap either, at least R10-15k. A dropper post, as mentioned, will make for the biggest improvement for your ride and the skills/confidence gained.
  14. It's a tough market lately, when you consider that R40k basically just gets you Sram SX/RS Judy components, although there are still similar deals here and there compared to the Vitus with Merida 120 with marzo/slx eg. So R5k saving probably isn't enough to sway the average buyer away from Scott/Spez. The guy spending R40k on SX/Judy bike is probably beginner rider and it's only important that the label on his fork says rockshox and his "jockey" is xt. The more discerning buyer will probably seek out better value in the classifieds. Going higher up, a15% saving might seem worthwhile for an imported bike, but then you have a lot more options if you can drop ~R70k.
  15. Wait, so we're talking about a Mythique VRX that should cost you landed ~R45k? Maybe if it was an Escarpe CRX or CRS for a better price than I can land it I'd be tempted, but for that money you can certainly find a better deal in the classifieds. Right now, I'm just riding my bike until the wheels fall off. Not going to be rushing to buy a new bike in this climate.
  16. Glass fibre rockwool is what you need to absorb sound waves. Egg cartons will only serve as diffraction panels, and are probably 100% useless inside a wall cavity. Diffraction panels serve to break up the normal diffraction patterns of sound waves, and their size only lend it to upper mid-high frequencies - thus reducing echoing and reverberation as well as phase delayed distortions, and are used inside the room. For lower frequencies (ie. bass) you need adequate mass in order to absorb the energy of the wave, where heavier panels and rockwool traps work better. Foam will not be enough to effectively absorb any sound. As for wall material, if you're going plaster board or other panel route (like a floating room), the more the panels/boards are braced will also aid in transferring less energy into/out of the room, as heavier braced panels will require more energy to move the panel, thus shifting the resonant frequency into the higher spectrum.
  17. Valid points, can't remember how many times I've toyed with the idea to buy direct, only to realise after shipping, duties etc, you're still not sure if it's going to be good deal compared to local big name brands. Looking at other direct sales brands with local agents, prices are also way off, totally defeating the purpose of the business model.
  18. Exactly, came for this comment, wrong body position. I would imagine on those rocks, with some dirt still stuck to your tyres, it doesn't take much to break traction. Body weight being too far back and upright, you'd struggle to make any correction then.
  19. There's a video out there of Nino riding Status quo sans dropper, on his skinny wheels and all, showing how it's done.
  20. Eish, I was actually about to order some stuff from them last week. Struggled to "fill" up the basket for the free shipping.
  21. Spez Command post was ok, tends to become sticky once in a while. Also liked the 3 position stops. Oneup - Didn't live up to the hype. I also don't understand why these things need to be so complicated. Hopefully we'll see more of the new Fox transfer sl post that only has 2 stop and a spring. No one really needs infinite stops, and complicated air springs that needs maintenance.
