  1. A drill bit is only as good as how it's used. Use the correct speed and drilling lubricant and they'll last longer, overheat it and even the most expensive cobalt bits go bust. Edit: I'm getting good mileage from my Alpen HSS set. Broken bits are easily replaced. I avoid Tork craft, Eureka and Ruwag if I can.
  2. Agreed, there's one way to destroy good coffee beans, and that's with over roasting. *pyrazines, pyroxenes are for the geologists.
  3. It's not illegal afaik, as they're occasionally available here. I think it's got more to do with your previous post, being US (120V, 60hz) spec vs Euro (220-240V) that we receive over here. A dado stack blade is much more efficient than a router bit, and has little to no regard for grain direction, slow feed rate and tear out.
  4. Some would say Deore is even better than XT/SLX. Edit: Late to the party, I see someone else already mentioned it. The cheaper Deore lever apparently don't suffer from the wandering bite point like the XT/XTRs do.
  5. Guess I must actually be a koek then.
  6. I'm sure I'm seeing welds on the chain stays, but the seat stays looks to be carbon. Someone with photoshop can unscramble that quickly.
  7. Just check if the kit/special includes 1 or 2 batteries.
  8. just get this rather; https://www.toolcraft.co.za/collections/bosch/products/bosch-gsb-180-li-1-x-2ah-batteries-gal-18v-20-charger-case
  9. Yeah, I've seen those 2.3 minion ss on wide rims, squared off far too much, actually running on the side knobs. I've never seen a 2.5 wt ss locally.
  10. Dissector is designed to be more of a faster rolling rear tyre for trail riding.
  11. Dissector front, minion ss at the rear. "Semi-slicks" like the minion, slaughter or rock razor should be more popular. Straight line, they're fast rolling, but the side knobs still offers grip when it goes side ways.
  12. Can't really advise, as it depends really on what you're planning to do with it. Other than if you're actually going to use one, a compressor is like many other things in life, buy the biggest you can afford and have space for. I've a 2hp/1.5kW-100L-"silent"-no-maintenance-jobbie. In a domestic environment, it makes a big difference having one less tool making noise - especially if you forgot to switch it off and the compressor goes off in the middle of the night. It's too small for my needs, but I didn't buy it to seat tires.
  13. Any love for Picquic multi tool screwdrivers? I use mine more than the Gedore set. Below is the gucci version, at a decent price actually (can’t get it cheaper from Amazon either) from ODO; https://www.onedayonly.co.za/products/39-piece-tool-check-with-tool-set-10-20210225
  14. These 12V Bosch cordless tools are great. No issues being used all day, and battery life is impressive. Being lighter, they're also much easier on your wrists and other joints for prolonged use. If you already have a corded drill, it's a no brainer. If it's going to be your only drill-driver in the house, I'd rather go for the 18V with hammer action for the odd drilling into walls.
  15. Although there is obvious value for any bicycle brand to promote and fund trail building, it becomes easier if you can offset some of that expense by increasing your revenue. Seems only fair. I think it's a great gesture. Other brands should also get on board, as it benefits everyone.
  16. ...and jewelry. You'll see plenty of scratches from wearing rings and bangles around the door handles. And then there's also the makeup build up on the sun vizers, and the white residue on gear knobs and in crevices around the console and steering wheel from all the hand cream women put on.
  17. Lars isn’t even in the game, never mind same league as Larnell. Snarky puppy ftw. [emoji1598]when I’m in the mood, is always followed by some Aristocrats tunes as well.
  18. A couple of years ago, Gedore introduced Carolus as their second label. The Gedore Red label has now replaced this. While Blue is made in Germany, the Red label is made in some other "3rd world" country (might be Taiwan?) at a lower price point. It's seems, over the last year Gedore prices have gone off the chart. You're now paying for the Red what the Blue cost about a year ago. Can't blame the exchange rate for 50+% increase. Perhaps it's just a strategic marketing move, to align Gedore Blue with higher end tools like Snap-on. But, the red/old carolus is considered entry level stuff overseas, and the price point seems much lower there.
  19. Apparently burning in the Hottentots-Holland catchment area, came over the mountains from Grabouw's side.
  20. You insure for replacement value. It’s got f-all to do with the shop whether you’re the first or third owner. There’s no liability for them. Just get a valuation from a shop you wish to support in the future
  21. Compressors are misleadingly marketed based on the theoretical air piston/pump displacement, instead of its free air displacement (FAD) which is what really matter as you state. Typically FAD is about a third lower than the stated displacement CFM or l/min values. A compressor is a nice to have if you have space. It'll blow the dust off stuff that your vacuum cleaner doesn't get off, but you'll need a decent one for air tools and spray painting. A high duty cycle will kill your underpowered compressor.
  22. Ah. We got a whole trolley set recently for the new maintenance guy at work. Nice tools, never heard if it until a few months ago.
  23. Was also going to ask this. Can't have a free for all with ratings system. It's going to become a joke. ...but, then I notice the seller dropped the "Daniel" from his username - Daniel King to just King. Fishy, dunno...I've better things to entertain myself with now, ie. weekend.
  24. The old versus socks were kinda nice, except for the cuff. The new ones get too hot and sweaty = stinky feet. Too much synthetic materials in there. Those Cwc Cam ones are even hotter, can only wear them in winter. Will look for something else next time I'm buying socks, maybe look at Falke again - I've an old pair that's quite okay.
  25. Rather not, the horse is dead. Go find something better to do. Not even my crazy ex carried on this long.
