  1. I like Rouvy more but Zwift interfaces with my analytics software better when it come to pulling and pushing workouts. So it really depends on how you 're going to use the Augmented Reality Platform
  2. While on the topic of indoor trainers: Rouvy or Zwift ?
  3. I bought a gen 1 Kickr second hand about 4 years ago. I actually am scared to check how many thousands of KM's have been done on it. My wife and I get away with the same size frame so there is an old hardtail bike on it and we adjust the seat height between us. Dirt cheap heavy 10 speed drivetrain on it and really the running costs drop considerably. If you are sharing with family/spouse you can add family members to a single rouvy membership as well, makes it also a bit more affordable.
  4. Make the investment in a Direct Drive Trainer. Its something that can last many years if looked after and is a massive help to your fitness as there are no "free Kms" Have a look at something like the Saris H3, well priced and with class leading specs. Rouvy AR is a great platform if you want real world routes (Like TdF stages with HD visuals) Zwift is awesome if you want to race your friends
  5. event is over the next 5 days. involves all the big teams. stages are short roughly 20-40km - so short and sharp racing 17h15 on SS1 today you can also follow along on the Rouvy App we have some live sport to watch!!
  6. Are you on Rouvy or Zwift? Zwift you can upload direct to Garmin Connect. Rouvy, you need to download the FIT file from the Rouvy webpage, then upload it to Garmin Connect - then you will have the route details uploaded too. If you just use your Garmin, then you won’t have the route data.
  7. Ja, normally on my Rouvy app (Windows 10 laptop) it tells me as soon as the rouvy is open that there are updates, and what they are for. You can then choose to update now or later Me too, the last few days I could not find the "green button" to "Create a Race (Route)" from rides I have uploaded into my Rouvy training diary...I have an up to date Premium membership. Despite having created numerous routes over the years....Maybe I'm just having a blonde moment...
  8. No need to complete one ride, if you have a Rouvy login and your IDT is set up then you should be able to access any race on the normal Rouvy virtual racing menu. I'm not sure if the PC and laptop are the same, but here is the procedure from my laptop: Assuming you have already registered for the ride (race): Login to rouvy - Select "Online races" from the menu bar (LH side on laptop) - Select "Scheduled" - Scroll down the list to the race you have entered or want to enter (Some races are private and will need a password, so if you cannot proceed this may be why) - Select the race - Select enter race (you could also register if not already registered) - Select "Start Online Race" (Top RH) The race will then load, this takes a few seconds and your screen might go blank for a short while. - After a few seconds you should be on the start line which will have a count down clock in the middle of the screen saying: "Warm Up Online race will begin in 00:15: 45" You can now warm up and adjust the power setting according to your desired effort. The race will automatically start at the stated race start time (it might be worth checking your computer time is set to your correct local time, exact as possible)
  9. High Jack GM, Can you please help me. Downloaded Rouvy on my laptop and looking to try with dumb trainer. I have a Fenix 3, should my heart rate pick up automatically? Garmin speed and Cadence on back wheel of bike and paired with Fenix 3. I have my old XT310USB ant stick and downloaded new drives from Garmin and Rouvy and the stick is in the laptob USB port. Still can`t pick up the heart rate or cadence censor on Rouvy.
  10. Rouvy AR I find simpler. Especially connecting to trainer.Rouvy ( now rouvy workouts) has workout sesions and a bit more detail to it.
  11. What is the difference between Rouvy and Rouvy AR I normally use zwift but looking to try out Rouvy and join you guys for a race
  12. My opinion: before any of the Zwiftoids sharpen their pitchforks - I do not like the avatar gamification concept. I also do not like the "free ride" thing. I have been using The Sufferfest since 2013 and recently tried Fulgaz for charity - I did the CTCT and got a month sub with my entry. Fulgaz has 4K videos and it is actual footage. I quite like that. So here's my list of pro's and cons of all the platforms I have tried before: Zwift Pro - ......... I only used it for the trial period of like 14 days or something like that so I did not really get stuck into it to give a positive comment Con - It's more expensive than both Fulgaz and Sufferfest.I do not like the "free ride" concept, I want to get on the trainer, break myself & get off. I do not like the avatar thing, again its training not a game. One can easily fall into the "junk mile" groove and the fitness level will suffer. They only offer cycling on their platform. Again, this is my opinion Rouvy I'm not even going to give a write up. It is worse than Zwift IMO. The riding experience is unrealistic and I did not enjoy my time with them The Sufferfest As mentioned before, I have been using their platform since 2013 and it has a lot going for it Pro It is cheaper than Zwift. They offer more than cycling (Strength training, yoga, Mental stuff, Tri-Athlons). They use a better test than the normal FTP test called the 4DP and this is a game changer. They have actual world class coaches on their payroll. The videos have very good structure and you know exactly how long you're going to suffer during the session. They recently partnered with the guys from GCN and even more recently they added a whole lot of new content which is basically recovery sessions, quite coolCon (You thought I wasn't going to mention any, weren't you ) All the rides are structured around the 4DP results, so if you do not nail the test the rest of the sessions are too easy. The first time I did the 4DP on the Flow back in 2018 my FTP value of the 4DP was in my view quite high. Now close to 3 years later my FTP is close to 90W lower. My values keep on dropping even though I am getting fitter, stronger and healthier (thyroid issues). So I know that my values should actually increase. Ok, I got another trainer so that can have an effect but not that much. They don't offer any elevation gain on their videos. To me this sucks, it means every video I did since 2013 had 0 elevation gain. Yes I know that it is only numbers on a screen but still, I do not like looking at my stats over a 12 month period with the elevation gain almost the same as my distance (not really but you get my point).I've been doing it since 2013 and am bored with the platformFulgaz Pro It's a new shinny toy. I love the concept. It is actual riders recording their ride and the platform tells you their time, so you can either take more or less time than the OP. They show elevation gain, and not just 120m over 40km, nooooo, I did a ride in the Alps on Sunday: 14km with 1360m of climbing . I am quite stoked with the amount of climbing I can do on the platformI think it is more realistic than Rouvy (the rider experience).Con The Ant+ connection is crap. It drops mid ride and does not inform you. Bernard (your riding buddy) is unrealistic and stupid. He either crushes you or you crush him, it's a constant "playing around with the settings" to try and sort this. I am still on the fence about the power output, if this is accurate or not. The platform loves reducing your W's to zero or close to zero on a flat or downhill, even if you keep the power on the pedals. They don't really have training plans or proper coaches. Their training plans are not very good.
  13. I think I have sorted out my unrealistic performance on my dumb trainer. I am using a Giant Cyclotron Mag II trainer, which is not included on Rouvy's list of trainers, so I assumed that the Giant Cyclotron Fluid Comp trainer would work for mine, so I chose it. After the race, I contacted Rouvy and they suggested that I select the Deskbike trainer under "Other", which I did and then did a route yesterday evening. The results were much closer to reality, in terms of heart rate, power output and speed. Rouvy automatically adjusts the speed depending on the gradient, cadence and heart rate, for dumb trainers. So it seems that the Deskbike trainer matches the power curve to my trainer much more accurately than the Fluid Comp trainer. So when is the next race? I will now probably come stone last!
  14. My diagnosis: Ditch the phone and Garmin and Download a platform like: 1) Sufferfest 2) Rouvy 3) Fulgaz 4) Zwift Then use the platform to control the trainer. The Vortex unit offer everything you need to get a proper workout 😁. KISS (Keep it Simple)
  15. A tip for those doing a Rouvy race for the first time... Dont leave it to the last minute to join the race. Login to rouvy and get your IDT set working well before the race start. You can do another ride or free ride to warm up. If you do another ride on Rouvy to warm up, you have to stop and end that activity before joining the race, join the race a few minutes before the start, you can continue to pedal / warm up in this mode. A countdown clock will start during the final seconds before the start.
  16. Geez Shaper less than 24 hrs in isolation and already got the grumpy mood All those things can be done in rouvy, not just "ride a road" I'm sure as a long time rouvy user you are aware of this, but for those who are not here are some screen shots from your DCrainmaker link above, as evidence of a structured work out And no... also as a long time rouvy user who never saw the need to change to anything else I'm not punting it or slagging anything Be nice now and say sorry Duane And if you do like roads....the same structured workout with a road view
  17. Quite a tough indoor challenge on Rouvy Finish the 4 predetermined routes between 17.3 - 01.4 Ride for Italy, for everyone who completes the challenge rouvy will donate 1 Euro to the Veneto region in Italy https://rouvy.com/en/challenges/detail/137
  18. Thug

    Fulgaz vs Rouvy

I have no experience with FG but have been using Rouvy for over 6 months now and am perfectly happy with it. I used to run it on a Windows laptop but had plenty of dropouts which I traced back to M$ updates causing issues but since purchasing a dedicated Apple TV and downloading the route prior to riding, I haven't had any issues whatsoever. My only concern is that the Rouvy Workouts app isn't available on Apple TV. The developers will be combining the AR & Workouts app into one later on in the year.
  19. Rouvy will also pull your training peaks program straight through for ERG mode.
  20. I just saw something very funny. There's a website called whatsonzwift. Go to the workouts>>Training Plans tab. I'm looking at the TT Tune up training plan. ALL of those workouts are on Rouvy. So you can follow that training plan on Rouvy. I just searched for the workout names on Rouvy and they are all there. *Edit. Ok not all of them but it just so happens that the TT Tune up ones are all there. I looked at Gravel Grinder and they aren't there.
  21. Indeed. IRL beats IDT any day of the week 10 times over. BTW I'm running rouvy on a mygica android tv box. The primary reason i stayed on rouvy after my evaluation process of the various apps was this reason. I just plug the trainer and fan in and switch apps on the mygica so no faffing with laptops and tables. The mygica has bluetooth so the idt and my HRM link up pretty easily. The whole setup doesn't seem to enjoy having my HRM watch in the room for some reason so that goes to the bedroom while i'm on the indoor sweater. I suppose in theory you could just install rouvy on an android based tv with bluetooth an have even less stuff to hassle with. My most important requirement when i started the whole smart trainer thing was to have it be as hassle free as possible without having an actual dedicated pain cave. Which is why I ended up with the setup I have.
  22. I would disagree, you can import many structured workouts in Rouvy and many more standard workouts available, when you do a workout, you can pick any video to play while you do the workouts, last week I picked my Sani2c day 2 video while doing a 1Hr 25 minute workout. I was thinking the other day Rouvy does not have the road feel that Zwift has, so My short conclusion, Zwift is a Road simulation where as Rouvy has a feel similar to Moutainbiking, just my 2 cents
  23. For me if you want gamey, Zwift is much better than RGT. Free RGT was fine for the summer for when the SE humps for a week but I'm too tight to pony up the $17 a month for Zwift when I'd much rather ride outside, or surf, or run, or maybe wash the dishes. Top tip. You can join events and ride other people's magic roads as part of the freebie. The free workouts are limited but ok. I really wish Zwift would do a family option like Rouvy. $17 is too expensive IMO.
  24. Beat me to it. Wahoo UPPING their game. I already have SYSTM, so the added RGT is just s bonus. I enjoyed Rouvy's videos, but I think RGTs are better.
  25. This thread got me thinking of all my subscriptions I have: SIM card x2 - 1 contract, 1 pre-paid; Apple music (family) + cloud storage; GCN+; Fibre; VPN; Netflix; Fast Talk Labs (coach edition); Intervals.icu; Rouvy (I’m on a friend’s family group, so paying 1/3 of the cost; Veloviewer (until July) Discontinued subscriptions: Strava Amazon Prime Hulu DStv TrainingPeaks Zwift Apple TV+ Both lists might exclude one or two others.
