bertusras Posted July 5, 2016 Share I love this stuff. Would love to be a rocket scientist when I'm big. https://www.theguardian.com/science/2016/jul/05/jupiter-nasa-mission-puts-juno-spacecraft-in-orbit-after-five-year-journey My favourite thing about this whole mission is this: The name "Juno" comes from Greek and Roman mythology. The god Jupiter (for whom the planet is named) drew a veil of clouds around himself to hide his mischief. Jupiter's wife, the goddess Juno, was able to peer through the clouds and reveal Jupiter's true nature. The Juno spacecraft will also look beneath the clouds to see what the planet is up to. Juno the spacecraft will not be seeking signs of misbehavior, but will be helping us to understand the planet's structure and history. NASA sent his wife to go spy on him. What a bunch of nerds. I love it. Lurch the stalker and MTBeer
MTBeer Posted July 5, 2016 Share Just an illustration of the Milky Way. And Juno traveled 2.8 billion km from Earth to Jupiter. Guestimates are at around 100 billion galaxies in the universe. Mind boggling! Piston ZA, Captain Fastbastard Mayhem, Warren_G and 1 other
