WTF !!!

After team-mate Jaime Alguersuari had remained in the garage under safety grounds for the final six minutes of practice, following a stoppage for the accident, the Faenza-based team announced that a right-front upright breakage was the culprit; the part in question was new for this weekend's race although the specific cause of the incident remains unknown.

As debris was strewn across the race track, one wheel caused particular concern as it made its way past an FOM cameraman and over the catch fencing, fortunately not injuring any corner workers or spectators.

Although each wheel is supported by ultra-strong and much-tested tethers, designed to hold them in place in the event of accidents, Toro Rosso has explained that both front wheels were able to become airborne because the tethers were connected to the suspension parts which failed.
