Needs to be bled again, but problem will reappear when you do that again. Must have been a bad batch. I fixed mine by buying Formula Curas, need to fix the wife’s now

This needs a response but I can't get myself to type it.

Well that explains my problem!!! One of my MTBs stood for a while(has XT). It was hanging up on a wall, front wheel on top so the caliper was still below but my rear brake is now pretty much unusable since starting to use it again. Lever to grip and it only just touches the disk. Thanks for the info. Any tips on fixing it?

It needs a good bleed. Not a quick bleed, a good bleed.

I have 4 pairs of shimano brakes, they all live up against a wall, the only one that had this issue, was the one I swapped out the brake hoses. After a bleed, it's lekker again.

The back brake is harder to bleed well, as there is a long hose that can have air trapped in it, so it needs to be done with a bit of patience and repetition.

I will bleed them both then. This long weekend coming up sounds like a good time. Just need to go get some more fluid. Thanks guys.

The Mrs is very grumpy with me this morning. Not sure why. All I did yesterday was watch the GP until 10, then cycling until 5 and then the Masters until 9

At least you didn’t go cycling with your buddies too before China ????????

in my experience this happens when you bleed the brake but don't fill the oil reservoir in the lever completely before closing it all up. Then you end up with a little air bubble in the reservoir that gets into the system when the lever is below the caliper. Putting in the reservoir cap should squeeze out a bit of oil to make sure there in no air in it.
