Can the be sure. But it's a good idea because you're no longer on the flat manicured stretches of public black river of death.

I get that, I lost two friends in two months in road bike deaths, so it stays firmly clipped in the Cateye.

I am lucky that I used race Enduro's so in the technical stuff I am a happy liddle piglet. Just cannot climb for c**p

Hi all!!

I'm just new to this forum & live in Sydney, Australia. I have worked in Cape Town (a few years ago) and done a bit of travelling, along the Garden Route, but after recently picking up a Vintage frame, originating in SA, I thought it best to sign up here and see what knowledge I can pick up on this bikes heritage.

Pics to come, but the frame is a DHC (Deale & Huth Cycles) and I would put it at mid 60s, Reynolds 531, and cosmetically pretty good for a 50 yo bike frame.

I am excited about this build.

Greg.

Hi Greg

That's a cool DHC, funny how it has derailleur levers, considering it's a track frame. I have one too, but with much simpler lugs and no chrome on the track ends or forks. Have a look at this thread go to the post by alexl, he had track frame no.3 made by Huth.

Cheers

Justin

Hi All

Decided to get a MTB in October last year to get my body into shape. Broke two ribs ons my second ride. January another fall at speed straight into ICU ribs thru the lungs. Got a new bike and have done 2300 safe kilometers since April. Fortunate to do Sani and now Transbaviaans. 19kilo's lighter, and I cannot walk past my bike without taking it for a spin. It is actually now affecting my work, maar hel dis lekker!

Regards

Werner

Hi all my name is Ryan and i am a cyclerlist (what my 5 year old calls it)

Also new to the hub (although i've been browsing for years), been off the bike for years, got the boep to prove it, got me a MTB now and the kids have their bmx's. So the spirit is willing and so far the body and mind has been too. As a side project i am trying to persuade our ward counciler to finish off the Elfindale BMX dirt tracks in Southfield. But cleaning and taking the kids thier anyway. with or without "council".so wish i could buy it from them. anyway a MTB NOOB. so will be posting a sh!tload of questions in the future!

Hi everyone,

So I decided to take up mountain biking after a long absence from cycling in general. During my younger days I did some BMX racing during the early ninties and later progressed to road cycling. I haven't cycled in more than 10years now but my brother got me interested again since he took up moutain biking.

The first thing I did was to scout through the forum and was amazed how much cycling in generel has changed. I got alot to catch up to it seems and there is a ton of bike manufactures in the MTB space not to mention parts and accessories. I am generally interested in XC and enduro races for now as this seems to be the most popular. I have no interest in racing competitively as I am doing this for the enjoyment but it seems when upgrade fever hits then the bank balance takes quite a hit!!!

As yet I dont have a MTB as yet but I am lurking through the classified section of the forum for something appropriate and cost effective (read R10000 max). I am here to learn and looking forward to all the advice and experience of the more seasoned guys on the forum.

So that's me. :D

Hi Guys

New kid on the block. Based in Hillcrest and ride a MTB. Enjoy the outdoors, golf, fishing, hunting and 4x4ing.

Spent too much time on the boat drinking beer, need to work off the boep.

Regards,

Nic.

Wow as a kid we used to press our nose up against the glass of the Deale and Huthe Cycles shop in DF Malan Drive in Blackheath. This is bringing back memories. My mate had their lower end road going bike - the swift and the dart. Our family was too poor and so these were like going to see the Ferraris in the showroom to perve at them.

They also had the ultimate in Bike Porn in those days - a thing called a Zeus with wingnuts rather than Quick releases.

These were al locally made in SA - there was another dealership somewhere as well.

So are the older folks who know about hub kultchurr and the like all standing around in a circle applauding each one of these mails? Are we also allowed to take the soap box?

Its a hard place to learn this place - you stand a good chance of being slapped silly on your first post if you happen to take to moaning and the like (which many noobs including the recent one) found out at their peril.

Me - been here a long time. Prior to this I was on Spinman (think there are a lot of you ex Spin folks here as well) where you could get your inbox flooded in an argument between the Pink Panther and some other dudes about their frame colours.

Migrated here is about 2008, i thiik. Its a bit of a blur....

Ridden everything i can think of and also raced almost all the major races. Now I ride with mates (which according to the post about the Zen of cycling seems to be the highest level of evolution). For me its cause I am too fat, too slow and too lazy to put in the training required to go fast again.

I like a good handbag swinging session and not above starting one occasionally (see no warning points though so i must know where the line is).

I am pretty tempted to find out what one has to do to get banned or get warning points.

Admin - please can i have a warning point so i can intimidate noobs?
