Welcome Nicholas.     Yeah I agree, trails are overrated

Hehe, I’m not dissing the trail, or trail riders for that matter. I just realized that that wasn’t for me anymore.

Hi Guys,so I did introduce myself maybe 19 months ago, but never really got into the riding, work, family, enduro(motorcycles) keeping me too busy... Then sold my mongoose as I need to free it baome cash. 9 months after selling my mongoose, I today picked up a 2nd hand Titan 29er hardtail and am starting to get into the mtb thing...partly due to a friend roping me in for a mountain bike race at the end of August, and partly as I'm off the motorbike at the moment due to a shoulder injury. So will do odd races and use the mtb as cross training. Have heard about Rietvlei and Thaba trails as I now stay in the far south and also know of Modderfontein although I have never ridden any of those..

. Where else should I check out.... Any tips or pointers would be great. Have a great afternoon

Hey guys,

I'm Viren, live in Durban and looking into getting into trail riding etc.

Loved cycling as a kid and then other sports usurped all my time.

A few buddies have recently taken up cycling on the Dbn promenade and the bug has bit hard.

Looking into buying a bike now and getting out more.

Lots on informative reading on here, looking for advice etc and grateful for the site.

Cheers,Viren

Thank you in advance

32X50 ratio is 0.64, if you compare a typical 2 x 10 with 24x36 = 0.66 so the 32x50 will have a slightly easier ratio. Hope that makes sense.

Hello there good people. I started in cycling this year. I got myself a 2nd hand Merida matts 100 26" but found myself doing môre Road cycling than mtb. In April I got a 2nd hand Merida 901 roadie. I will post my couch pics soon. Haha. I joined the Edenglen Cycle Club, what a nice bunch of people. They taught me the hand signals. Paid my 947, so excited.

Hey everyone,

Have posted here and there a few times, been a forum lurker for quite a while.

Been riding a bike for almost as long as I could walk, was quite a lot faster in my younger days but now ride (and run) just because I enjoy it.

I tend to run more over winter and then ride more over summer, not a big fan of cycling when it's dark and due to work and other commitments early mornings are pretty much my time for exercise.

Hi everyone

Hope you are all well. New to the forum. Cycled for many years in my school days and will be getting back into it again.

My family and I have decided to do this together as a team for leisure not professional lol.

I remember many years of enjoyment and fitness when I was in high school with my giant MTB. I have been out of this game for a number of years but looking forward to getting back in it. Have also done some body building back in the days so have a strong sense and will for fitness.

First up I posted a topic (hopefully in the right section) under Tech buying guide. If anyone has some advise on the topic I posted it would be greatly appreciated as I would like to start by getting some bikes.

Thanks again.

Hi all

I'm from poison city, AKA Durban. Been riding a bicycle since I was a laaitie and can't remember a time when I did not have a bicycle in my life.

I classify myself as a mountain biker but I don't mind a cruise on the road or promenade now and then as well. Used to be quite serious when I was a teen but became more mellow as I've aged. These days I go at my own pace and enjoy more of what's around me

Lekker!

yet another newbie, more the merrier :)

42 and getting into the scene for the first time, still finding my feet. Based in JHB.

The first bike is a Scott Scale 980 29 hardtail to learn on, fall on lol before deciding what and if I need anything better, more suited to what I want to ride, later on, no idea yet what to expect or what I will be drawn to.

I hope to learn a lot more from you fine people, with loads more experience.
