Gym is R250 a month ;) @ Virgin that is...

How do you manage that? I'm at Virgin too, I've been told I get a discounted rate because I've been there for close on 7 years. So much for loyalty :(

I went down and rode the Hilton MTB on the weekend.

Km's travelled - 1400.

Cost per km in my vehicle. R2 per km.

Cost of travel R2800.

Add race entry, accomodation, food, etc.

I somehow don't think those memberships are expensive at all.

My wife goes to the most expensive gym ever, I would not be surprised if it's averaging over R500 a session at the moment.

I am bankrupt after the August/September cycling expenses.

3 x Argus entries R 1000 including a chip for my daugher (her first Argus)

3 x Amashova entries plus accomodation R 2500 fuel excluded

3 x OFM Classic entries R 600 luckily no fuel or accomodation needed.

2 x Youth race entries plus accomodation R 2000

This excludes my daugters' training fees and our gymn membership. - Total R960 pm

Suddenly your R2355 pa sounds like something I would not mind paying.

Anyone been to Faerie Glen Nature Reserve recently?

I see on their site they are open from 6am-6pm. Do you need to be out of the reserve by 6pm (do they close the gates) ??

Want to go for a after work run there...

Was there a while back.  Very nice.

Have a look at Mereletta Nature reserve also.

Nice running tracks at Wolwespruit also.  And on Tuesdays they close at 9pm.

Move to PE. We have the Baakens Valley with some awesome trails to cycle and run on, doesn't cost a cent. We have a whole ocean to satisfy all your swimming needs and that is free too.

Where are you guys getting DSTV for 500 and 600 Ronts ZA ?

I think I'm paying close to R900 ... Are they greasing me up, bending me over and aiming for penetration ... ??

That must probably be with a daily session with a personal trainer...otherwise you're being shafted.

Planet Fitness was R599 per month 4 years ago.

But sounds like you can get other rates from clubs if they like you...

Lets chuck a shifting in the works....

Groenkloof - You stand a huge chance of loosing your bike to a #feesmustfall supporter or tax evader.

Either that or your car becomes a shopping center where you break the window, and take what ever you want.

Same at the other places.

The last time I visited the botanical gardens, the neglect was visible.  Railings broken, bridges broken.  Bathroom gutted due to a #feesmustfall shopper,  Gardens was in such a state, we spent 30 minutes there and not the usual 3 - 6 hours.

The swimming pool in Bronkhorstspruit (also falls under the local govt of Pretoria) was full of shyte.  And I mean full of it.  So the last time I wanted to go there, the pool was a hazard and thus closed.

I have since stopped my visits to the nature reserves around Pretoria.  I will rather go to the Premier Game farm and spend a weekend there.  At least they have security there.  And a lot of hiding spots, should someone intrude on your weekend...  Wink Wink...

I think we can all be happy we dont live in Europe, the cost of "outdoor" activities is insane!

Really?

Have not paid anything to access the forests, the mountains, the rivers for running and biking and walking.  The pools yes.  A whopping 45€ for a family card a year.  i could live with it.

Reference to DSTV in this thread are 2011 costs...this thread wasn't exactly started this year  :whistling:
