My old Bititan in times of freedom. It really needs more time out in the open. Couldn't believe how much dust it has gathered when I cleaned it the other day. Please ignore the saddle bag and the lights. It was a long lonely day out on tubbies. I had to be prepared for anything.

Very very few businesses survive its founder. Very few survive the second generation of the family. So, I suppose it is just normal. Still sad but also hopeful that the brand will survive and thrive.

Ya, mixed feelings!  Be interesting to see in which direction they now go.  Should not be short of money.

It is a little tricky if you are at the top already, both in terms of prestige, desirability, performance, innovation and reputation. Going down that slippery ladder is all to easy. To stay up there is ten times more difficult than to climb up that same ladder.

The Bianchi brand made the transition to corporate ownership a decade ago, I think, and managed it well. Let's hope Colnago can do the same.

I don't think any of the other top brands managed it and either disappeared or lost its shine.

I did not realise that he has been in charge since starting it at the age of 20 and has now sold his majority stake at age 88. Just assumed the italian thing of the family coming through.

That's an incredible time to be at the top, hope he got rewarded handsomely.
