Coffee machine

Recommended Posts

All seems rather complicated or not. Maybe I am just lazy seeing how my machine is a bean to cup, grinds the beans, presses the coffee, and voila, cuppacino, latte, espresso or just plain black

I am actually very impressed with how easy it all is

Not complicated at all....admin yes. But then variables that determine the taste are much easier to change.

Just depends if its your cup of tea(grappie hoor) or not

Exactly what routjie said...

You know that n+1 rule with bikes? Well, it works too with coffee machines/equipment.

My next purchase after discovering the taste (and experience) from a siphon brewing method.

  1. it looks cool
  2. it tastes fantastic - no milk, no sugar, just the freshly brewed coffee.
  3. no Eishkom supply problems to worry about.

Ah, but as I mentioned earlier...the built in grinder is hond at best. Its already at its finest setting so I don't really have an but to tamp moer hard. But thanks for the tips, deffos will try it. I am suspecting some channeling though as you mentioned.

Oh and yes. it does a pre-infusion cycle...so taking that out of the equition my flow time is around 19-23 seconds depending how hard I tamp...moer hard obviously giving me 24 seconds of flow.

You might be able to move the zero point of the grinder a bit closer to get it finer - you have to do a partial strip though - generally it just means moving a limit screw a bit to allow the blades to be set finer - I have only done this on one grinder though.... the one in Dipslick's car.... :)

I have been in contact with TFG (the foschini group) who own @home and bring in Breville locally. They are the ones who source parts and they are trying to find stock of the single wall baskets for me.

If I come right, I will update the post.

The guys that service Breville are Liptronics in Cape Town but they told me that they don't sell parts and that I should contact TFG directly.

Hope it helps.
