Just some thoughts on the Holy Rail :

The two holes in frame (designed to carry the weight of one water bottle) will now carry the the weight of two bottles.

Will it (rivets/holes) be strong enough ?

If this rivets torn out of frame / fail, how will frame manufactures treat a warranty claim?

I've been pondering this as well

I feel like the holes in a frame are nowhere near that weak, I think they more holes than purpose drilled and fine tuned towards the variable weight of a bottle of water and the variable weight of the cage holding said bottle.

I also assume lyne would have considered this.

Edit:

Also just remembered, syncros makes a bottle cage with mutli tool included, that thing without a bottle is already over 800g,a nice sized bottle filled with water will easily take that near the 2kg mark.

Somehow I think a MTB frame is a bit tougher than that and I am sure Lyne tested the product thoroughly.

They are called rivnuts and they do fail and become loose. I've had to replace one on a lightweight Ali frame, and tightened one on my trail Bike. Tightening a rivnuts is easy and can be done at home.

On my ex-carbon frame I never used bottles bigger than 500ml. Watching how someone takes a file and a drill to your bike to get worn rivnuts out is overrated, and not something I wanted to see happen on my BMC frame.

The Holy Rail has a nice rubber footpiece that comes underneath the rail and is then compressed when the rail is tightened. Whether that will help to prevent rivnuts from wearing out I don't know, but I do think so.

Think everyone would like some sort of confirmation it will fit, don't think we are going to get it

Not from this thread, there are also a decent amount of variables when you factor in bottle sizes.

I saw in 1 pic the bottle had barely a few mm gap from the top tube and that's only a partial right access cage, u will still need to pull the bottle up first.

Its a nice idea for those who really don't want to carry even a small pack and are willing to apparently risk damaging bolts/frame. I do think for many, the cost/value/risk analysis may more often then not tip towards not buying it.

I may buy just that tool bag as I have multiple packs so would be nice to have 1 less thing to potentially forget.

Lot of money for something that might fit

I reckon the easiest will be to start a holy rail thread where people can post pictures of their bikes with it inside. That way we'll build up a database for reference.

I reckon the holy rail kosblik or that tube strap like meezo has will find a home on my new build. And my hardtail will probably also sprout a rail so that I can drop the bottle closer to the BB to open up space for a full length frame pack.

Oh Ja, I'm not sure how good the Lyne bottle cages are, but I'll recommend giant or spez sideboard cages any day of the week if space is tight.
