The past few weeks we were living like sinners...  All the wrong foods all the time and sugar loaded drinks became the norm.

My fat ass became a lot fatter due to this.  So this afternoon I decided to take the bicycle home.

Water bottles filled up, klapped a KitKat just after 16H00 and took to the bike.

About 1.2 km from the office I took to the first hill.  3.4% for 100 meters then flattens out to 2.5% for about 800 meters.  I knew that I was not going to get of easy.  But reached the top.  I then had a bit of trouble with traffic, and hit a uphill stretch down Lynnwood.  I made about 200 meters, stopped and had a drink of water, then took to a little dirt path.

Made about 800 meters and knew trouble was brewing.

You all know that feeling when you know you are in for a puking session. So pulled off the road and I knew it was over, but then something strange took place.  After my body got rid of what ever I had eaten ahd had to drink (including the mug of coffee, I felt much better.  Okay, I limped home, but I was feeling a lot stronger and much better and less sluggish.  So will see tomorrow morning.  A bulletproof coffee before my commute and then getting back on to LCHF.  That carb loaded diet is just plain crap if you ask me...

Don't klap a kitkat before your ride! IF you're taking some carbs for a ride, wait until you are on the bike and already warmed up. Else it might cause your glucose levels to sky rocket and to plummet again

I've been Banting on and off now for quite some time. That approach certainly doesn't work.

Recently I've decided to do it properly, and my wife is joining too.

I've noticed that even when eating Banting foods, my portions are quite big. I did a BMI test, calculated caloric requirements, and setup MyFitnessPal. On the very first day of logging my intake, I was shocked to see how many calories I over consume normally, even when Banting.

I'm feeling a bit weak and peckish, probably due to the calorie deficit. But I've got 25kg's of fat to get rid off, so I hope my body taps into that energy soon

Have to speak to the wife tonight.  I am pulling 89.5 kg of weight.  I can't go on like this.  I need to shake this fat!

I was on the other end of the intake scale.  I was running on 1500 what ever per day.  And would burn about another 1000 cycling.

So I was starving myself.

But good luck.  Just push it all the way, and you will reap the benefits.

I'm in the same boat as you, PAK. I'm currently sitting at 107.5 (109.8 last Monday) and started with myfitnesspal last week as well.

Hooked that up to Endomondo, which i run on my note3 (has ant+ capability) so that it automatically imports my exercise to myfitnesspal.

Going around some of the things I've started doing, I'm limiting myself to approx 500kcal during the day (egg on toast; coffee with splash of milk x 2; tuna and olives) and leaving the big meal for the evening.

However - one thing I quickly discovered is the hidden calories in a seemingly "healthy" snack - 30g of cashews holds an astounding 150kcal, and that's what I used to think of as a nibble - not even a snack. So a "full serving" of 100g cashews (which is what ccomes in one of those "snack packs" at ww) came to 500kcal.

Since last monday, I haven't consumed over 1,500 kcal per day (except sunday, when I calculated that my breakfast contained 1,000 kcal by itself) thanks to just shutting my trap and getting on with it.

My dinners still include 2 full glasses of wine, and are very tasty. But they're within the guidelines I set myself, and at least 50% smaller than what I used to have...

At the moment it's all about losing that extra 22.5 kg (goal is 85) as fast as possible, but also to teach myself about portion control. myfitnesspal is an immense help in that regard.

that's what i need to be careful of, as you pointed out last night.

I've just increased my lunch intake a little bit, by including some buttered toast with my tuna and olives.

But tonight I'm not training. This week was the first time in I think 7 months that I've ridden 3 days in a row, and pushed myself beyond my comfort zone each time. Tonight would have seen the 4th day in a row, and I think it's just a bit too much too soon.

toast - you bad boy!

toast - you bad boy!

LOL. Yeah, but I've determined that I'm not gluten intolerant at all, and I have to be realistic with myself - there's no way in hell I'll be able to cut out breads. At ALL.

I mean, what would I do with a burger!? A burger without a bun is just a meatloaf in drag.

Besides. I'm not having loaves of it. it's 15.5g carbs per slice, and up until today I've been having 1 per day. Having another means it's 31g from bread. Well below what I'm aiming for, and even when I have pasta for dinner my total carb intake for the day is still less than 100g.

Not LCHF by any means, but don't you dare take away my bread.

I think it also depends on what type of bread - the stuff we get in the shops these days is full of weird ingredients. It doesn't even grow mould within the time that bread always used to. I'd choose something healthier like rye bread.

This is definitely one of my biggest challenges. I cannot seem to get my sizes down, and if I do, there is a binge session laying ahead.

I'm based in Durban and would like to get my hands on this UCAN product. who and where can i find it?

Last time I checked (Jan) there was no local agent.

I ordered direct from UCAN in the states, but be careful ....

My parcel took 3 months to arrive, and when it did, customs charged me 22% import duty and 14% VAT.

Next time I will get a friend to bring some from UK/USA.

Well we had to make the choice to have one day as a sin day.  And that day we can have a Hamburger.

Still not sure if we are going to get rid of the chips as well.  Maybe just have a lot less chips.  But can't wait to go ketogenic  again.

well, I was right. It was like a meat loaf in drag.

patty, cheese, egg, bacon, gherkin, lettuce. And a few chippies. I missed the bun.

Not as burger, but it was still tasty...
