Decided to be a supporter and watch my son up from CT racing the 94.7 for the first time

Went to the finish and stood waiting for the elite arrivals

Very proud dad...he did a 2.13 and I shouted my lungs out as he sprinted in

The disappointing part was there were so few spectators at the finish.Very poor turnout. Is it because its so early..7.30 am or is it because the finish is so inaccessible.

People were walking kays with chairs, cooler boxes etc

They really need to think about this

My Answer to the Above is "Join the Twitter Ride". It was the first time i've done it and it was absoluetly awesome. There were closer to 400 than the 50 you mention and the organisation was brilliant finishing inside the Dome to an awesome free breakie of Coffees, Egg and Bacon rolls, Muffins, Smoothies and off course the chance to ride alongside/and chat and get pics at the end with legends as Impey, Thomas and off course Phil Ligget. let alone all the current/ex SA Mens and Womens Pro's.

Dont mock it till you have tried it. If you cant beat em, Join em.

Listen to this brother

Great Race Loved it my favorite one yet probably because I got to wear a dress to do the Bride for a Purpose Challenge...

You always see all the supporters but this year dressed up and slowing down to enjoying the ride it was amazing to really experiance the support

Thanks to the organizers and all the supporters for us the race just gets better every year

Should have been there later in the day and particularly for the last riders, they were cheered across the line. If you have never been there at the end of the day it's well worth it, all the rescue vehicles bring the last cyclist home.

I agree about this. There were too many water tables where you didn't have the option to ride past because the entire road was blocked due to the volunteers standing with paper cups I the middle of the road and riders stopping to take it and drink it.

I had an extremely long day escorting a friend who was not supposed to have ridden because was sick. Eventually near the end of the N14 she conceded that she was not going to manage to finish so after bundling her into a support vehicle I headed on. Managed about 7 hours :-O Next year she's going to do about 4:30 ;-) (don't know about me... I might do my third year of 7 hours)

the one Homestead drive was the worst wasted 5 or more minutes the accident on the downhill by the golf course also slowed me down the rest was not so bad.

Did you officially finish ???

I don't see your name on the results.

I freakin hope so! I finished with the last two riders ahead of the sweeper vehicles after the cheerleaders took a bloke who couldn't pedal anymore off my hands and pushed him across the line!

One thing that just came back to me, I parked down Maxwell Dr. and when I returned to my car, the guard (who was not the one who promised to look after my car when I parked) mentioned to me that he had been looking after the vehicle for me.

I reached into my pocket and gave him the last R10 I had on me. "No" was the response. The cost for this is R20 and he showed me a piece of paper about 3cmx2cm on which I could almost make out a printed R20.

Now I don't mind paying the guys, I do however mind the fact that I was not informed by the official looking parking attendant when leaving my car there only to be told this by the not so official guy 6 hours later.

Well done to all !

I'm happy with my 2:40 and the second lap was fun. Nice to be part of the "other" half doing it for fun or a special cause. I also helped a ice cream bike up randburg , could also assist with a puncture and a mechanical.

I really enjoyed the second lap , The vibe was something !

Lakker day out !
