The issue of the Jakaranda Satellite Classic has been addressed previously (you talking about the thread that got deleted because it was a cut and paste of an email), we do not consider this extremely one-sided and bitter view of events as factual at all, we deny the allegations made in the strongest possible way and CSA has clearly ruled on this matter (more than once)(CSA, you are joking right? I don't think anyone cares what they think). We obviously view all the defamatory comments made and the negative impact of those comments on our business in the most serious light - we will be taking legal advice in order to protect our business and reputation. For now we can state the following:

  • Despite everything, ASG has offered to contribute to the Children’s Home in question (in an email addressed to club management & Mr Erwee) - needless to say we are still awaiting a response. It would seem this is perhaps not the primary objective anymore even though this issue is used to try and gather misplaced sympathy on this forum? The race is most probably the cornerstone of the entire club, the main marketing event, the key sponsor attraction and the main fundraiser - not just a fund raiser for the home.
  • We are very proud of this event, the support we receive from cyclists is clearly seen in the growth of the event and especially our sponsors (Bestmed) who have built this event to the quality race it is today. The race has always been popular due to the date (just before 94.7), the fact that it's an Argus/Cycle Challenge seeder and that it has a great route and the challenge of Hekpoort - none of these things you guys brought to the event?
  • We are not perfect and are not claiming to be - we have had to take our fair share of abuse and often fair criticism on forums such as this - we accept that and try to improve as a result but we cannot accept any of these allegations now being made. Then defend yourselves, show us where you bought the event from the club... if you simply bullied them out of their own event for whatever reason, then suffer the consequences.
  • ASG will continue to invest heavily in the Sport and will continue to contribute significant amounts of money, product and sponsorship to various charitable causes. ASG will continue to sponsor and present, now more than 50 cycling events (with a host of quality partners and co-sponsors to make this possible). We will try our utmost to develop and improve those events to guarantee a quality experience for each participant. For this, and for providing our customers with quality products at competitive prices and with great service we thank and hope to continue enjoying the support of the South African cycling community. Thanks for the marketing you do in our sport, hopefully the sale of a couple Pinarellos will balance the books :thumbup:

I think ASG's response and the answers in blue, make ASG look the better party in this; & the OP bitter and twisted.

From what I have seen, ASG (along with Chris Willemse) have done more for SA cycling that any other importer/distributor.

 

Just look at the amount of sponsored riders out there with ASG kit, especially the juniors.

 

I will make every effort possible to support ASG (I just wish I could afford a Pinarello)

ok, now it's real yawn, I've seen this movie before. Do you work in a bike shop, because clearly this grates your carrot more than the average bunny? I'm not sure what 'service' you thought I was referring to, we all know they don't do (a)maintenance, (b)delivery, © hit tennis balls over a net (d) make you tea (e) suck your balls dry.

 

Maybe I should have used some intellect and made the distinction better. CRC has excellent CUSTOMER service. If you have issues with an order, they sort it out - often no questions asked. Despite the fact that there is no face-face interaction this is in general far superior to the CUSTOMER service offered by a local bricks and mortar shop (there are of course exceptions).

 

Now I am awake.

When someone has to use stupid analogies as the one above because they don't enjoy back pedaling.

 

Sorry ou Dictator, your reference to issues being sorted out, it's quite simple.

They need to deliver because you spent the cash.

If you have an issue, the onus still lies with them.

 

It works like that with anything you purchase online.

Since (cycling news) and ASG took over some races, the entry fees soared drastically, with no betterment on the previous events.

Traffic out of Jacaranda event last year was a mess, we stood for 45min, the intersection 500m before the finish congested and unmanned, no loo's in a 1km radius of the main parking, blah blah blah. They practically killed my beloved Jock event with the high entry fee I've been riding since '98 .

Did I miss ASG's regretful response as to what happened at the Krugersdorp Game Reserve's mtb event and what precautions they will take in future?

We regret that the Club representatives are continuing to portray a completely one-sided and biased version of events.

 

We find it sad that they hide behind this forum and various online personas when they choose to slander people and companies. We view the extremely selective comments/information posted by the OP as completely misleading and full of half-truths.

 

We repeat, the allegations made by these individuals against ASG are damaging, unfounded and wrongful and for obvious reasons we are not going to extensively debate the matter online and/or respond to all of their accusations (as much as we would love to set the record straight here and now).

I must say ASG is very good at defending their point. And to the person behind the account ASG U Suck.

Well that is a nice opinion you have about them , why don't you use your real account and step up a little.

And the ASG has some super sweet specials , that are sometimes cheaper than CRC , so they get my support :thumbup:

If you feel so badly that the point you stand on is correct , take them to court, don't just search for pity on a cycling forum.

between this thread and the TBMTBC thread I have used all my bandwidth, and popcorn. It seems that communication is a major problem in Souf Effrika. Everyone is talking past one another, and as a result cycling is losing.

 

If you want to know why sport is rarely competitive and always recreational in our country, you only have to read the threads on the hub. It seems that people only get involved in administration when

a. they can run it as a business (and make a profit)

b. they get some power kick out of it (by bullying the real sportsmen)

c. they get to select teams (so that they or their relatives can qualify)

d. they get some financial gain.

e. divert money and goodwill from the sport to some unrelated charity/fund.

 

Although there are those that are honestly wanting to make a positive difference in their communities and for their sport, they are quickly subverted or expelled by those doing a-e.

 

It seems if you want to really make a difference you will have to join a club (establish a club) and avoid "sponsors", "business partners", "charity organisations" and give your time to only club members with a similar vision. As soon as you go further than this you will be accused, rightly or wrongly of committing the sins documented in a-e above.

 

It is a pity that there is so much talking and shouting and so little communication.

But I now remember you're the guy who is always right, correct or possibly misquoted. That post count doesn't just get handed out on a plate. These nice people can have their topic back.

2.7 All sponsorships secured for the event (excluding a 20 % finder’s fee, payable to the party who secures the sponsorship), shall fall directly into the race budget and will be managed by SupaCycling CC.

That was silly.

 

Is it good business sense to sign away your rights and profits to someone else for R 10 a rider?

Yes it is. You get R10 for every rider that enters a race that you do no work for, can advertise at etc.

But I will concede, however you clearly understand what was said.

But it was the nice person who with his opening post sparker this side of the debate too.
