Eugene Posted December 4, 2013 Share I suppose i'm only doing this for sympathy, but only fellow cyclists will understand. 6 weeks ago, I managed to tear my rib muscles getting stuck in the "Letterbox" (Cango Caves). 3 weeks of no riding. Then I pulled a muscle in my lower back which turned into spasm and compressed a nerve causing pain in my leg. Another 3 weeks of no riding. Today, my first ride in 6 weeks. I ride with my daughter to school. She wipes out on a gentle downhill, I hit her from behind and go righter over my bars, breaking my arm. Another 4 weeks off. Can it get worse? Dad and daughter are now sitting at home looking for sympathy, full of cuts, scrapes and bruises. On the positive side, she was called on stage at assembly, full of bandages (thanks to the school nurse) and was made a prefect for 2014 ChUkKy, Loose cog, Bonus and 11 others
gummibear Posted December 4, 2013 Share Congrats on the prefect part but think you must wrap yourself up in bubble-wrap for a while ScottCM and slowpoke
NicoBoshoff Posted December 4, 2013 Share I most certainly sympathise and empathise. 8 weeks ago I bailed big time resulting in torn Rotator Cuff, bruised ribs and big ass scrapes. 4 weeks later on first proper ride I wipe and sprain my ankle. Week later another washout in a berm and i lost all the skin on my elbow. It's now been 2 weeks o fno falling *touch wood* I suppose when it rains it pours. Good lucl healing up! gtr1 Posted December 4, 2013 Share Ok, I sympathise. I know how you feel.beginning of year a guy crashes me in a race. Gashed my knee open ( was in top 10 at the time). Get stitches. Wound goes septic. I ended up in hospital for a week and an op to clean out wound. 7 weeks no riding. I start training for Sani. 3 weeks in, dog tuns in front of me, I go over bars and dislocate my clavicle. Another 7 weeks off. And all of this on my Scott RC 29'er that I bought in Dec. so was still brand new.

DJR Posted December 4, 2013 Share Ai Eugene, I think your luck has already turned - normally a broken arm gets you 6-8 weeks, but yours is only 4. I'd go but a lotto ticket right now if I were you r0adrunner

Helpmytrap Posted December 4, 2013 Share I agree with DJR. Things tend to happen in threes, so your luck has definitely turned. First sign thereof is your daughter being elected prefect. Heal up soon. Edited December 4, 2013 by Helpmytrap

TALUS Posted December 4, 2013 Share I just saw that my fittrack points came down from 85 to 55 in the last 30days. All after a rough W2W. I think you are justified in feeling a bit pissed. Good thing is you will be really motivated when you can start again. Time for a holiday with family and no bikes?
Ramrod Posted December 4, 2013 Share Screw sympathy! I think you should send out a warning when you are about to leave your front door so the rest of us can stay clear. Clearly you are an accident waiting to happen! Just kidding. Heal up soon!
