I wouldn't compare a Tallboy with a Epic or Vipa as the Tallboy is an extremely good all rounder and the Epic and Vipa are more race oriented.

Imho, I'd say a Giant Anthem advance will give you as much pleasure for just over half the price.

I have owned 2 giant anthems and now on a Tallboy ,all with the same wheel set and XT group set . There is another post where I compared these 2 bikes .Santa cruz do not have to sponsor every 2d epic rider to sell there bikes .They sell themselves .I service my bikes once a year with minimal cost ,especially the tallboy .It is as reliable and robust as a steel framed single speed and does everything exceptionally well .It puts a smile on my face every time I ride it

My dropper post, 120mm fork and sometimes even flats shot Vipa will disagree.

No bike is worth R65k imo. If your children could inherit it, like sports car or hunting rifle etc, perhaps.

After owning a R120k+ road bike (Zipp everything, SRM, 3 carbon wheelsets) and a R90k TT bike (same spec as the road bike), my view have changed. I have found that the enjoyment I get from cycling is not linked to the spec and price of my equipment. I can also not notice a difference in times or speed that I ride, except for TT - for road and mtb fitness and body mass dominates everything.

I now do not own a bike that cost me more thanR25k in total.

In conclusion buy the Giant it will make you feel better when you pass all the expensive alternatives on your next ride.

Another Giant vote, but, I'd go for the Trance to replace the SC TB.... With the bits you're talking about, it'll be unstoppable. (especially with a dropper)
