Or get a french girlfreind who enjoys escargot.....

This option would not work with the wife. Might cause me to loose the garden and the house.

About the only green way to sort out the kind of snail infestation that is called Cape Town, is a flock of duck or geese. They eat them........but then they covert them into slimy poop which they leave all over your place.......take your pick, you cannot have it both ways!

Does chickens eat snails?

I'm not sure but I know that rats do! The rats in my garden used to go and hunt their snails and then climb onto my car engine where it was still warm and very carefully eat them out of their shells. Sometimes I would find whole handfuls of empty snail shells!!!

Interestingly yes and no. I've had hens that do and other hens that would not. (especially large snails) I've noticed that the chicks reared by hens that do eat snails adopt their mothers behaviour and likewise with the hens that do not. These obervations relate to silkies and pekin bantams. Zulu fowl will eat anything, even 15cm long red centipedes and lizards. Seen with my own eyes :0
