Nice - I like the lime tree idea, even though we already have a lemon tree. Can always use them in a recipe.

Almond and olive trees also sound interesting. Almond isn't my favourite nut, but if it's fast-growing I can learn to use it, I'm sure. And I love black olives.

Lime is good, means you can make your own Margarita's with fresh pressed lime juice :P

Guavas are late this year.

First paw paw tree this year too. Something new for us here at home.

Nothing dropped yet and I'm tempted to snip one off.

The first grape leaves are yet to show and the mint has already taken over.

Will probably move them once spring settles in.

The grapes are lekker sweet every year but we battle to keep the birds off them.

roast your almonds in a pan with a bit of olive oil and salt. Gazillion times better than raw.

Pull a mesh over the grapes. Get one of those wooden owls

Do the wooden owls work?

The friggen birds nail my lemon and lime baby fruits

Sadly I have no experience with them. Only heard stories.

I tied some ribbons up around my garden. Birds are clever enough to realize they can walk underneath them

I am sorry if this has been asked and answered, have any of you tried motion sensor sprinklers to keep unwanted animals from your gardens?

Use mines. Then you dont have to shovel and spit to dig a new bed.

Does anyone else have a fruit cocktail tree? We got one from my parents when they moved into their new place. It's a small garden and they couldn't keep it with all the changes they were planning.

Supposedly it will grow lemons, limes and pomelo. We're quite excited!
