Uhm, the biker was killed, so likely the motorist should be viewed as the vigilante?

No, the biker got off and pointed a gun at the driver first and struck him over the head, the driver then shot him in self defense.......

I would rather have him pick a different thread for his trolling/"acting like a chop". This is a very "loaded" issue with lots of emotions flying around. I see this thread have already almost 65,000 views and I think a number of non-hubbers and non-cyclists are following this thread to see how cyclists are reacting to this.

I am not trolling, I am simply voicing my opinion.

Don't judge until all the facts are known.

many of you might have reacted in a similar way if you were in the same situation.

Peach, I love you but you're wrong. I've been punched in the nose more times than a sparring doll and I still do stupid stuff. Violence just escalates a situation and the only thing the receiver learns is that their hatred is justified.

But do you do the same stupid stuff and to that person?

Of course, somebody linked this forum thread on their facebook page. If they are swinging punches at van drivers, they sure as hell will come here to talk *** that is for sure.

Hey Surv

This is a forum for expression of opinion, you may or may not agree with people opinions but you really have no right to say they are talking K@k. Yes the video depicts unruly behavior which has been condemned from day 1 by all and sundry, however we need to also hear what sparked such behavior and if anyone can shed more light than the 59s on the video let them do so please. This by no means justifies their actions but we need to at least allow them a forum to explain their side as I'm yet to read anything of this nature...this is assuming they want to do so..

So if you have a counter argument please express this

Biker shot in the back, not much of a threat .. Let's wait for the court case.

Seeing as you all think I support their actions.

I do not condone mob mentality and violence in that regard,

but, I do think that in some situations a hiding is needed, If we had a justice system that worked my view would change as these offenders would be dealt with.

I agree, all these road rage incidents can be attributed to problems in the larger society. We are becoming a very intolerant society, and the ineffective police/justice system is a direct contributor to this.

Yes. But you know me, I only make the same mistake about five times.

I know you're not trolling and I respect that you're standing up for your opinion in the face of so much opposition but I just can't condone that kind of aggression. It's not the world that I want to live in. There's certainly some context that we're missing but there was definitely a better way to resolve it.

Seems I have touched a nerve, U must be a friend or even family of the van gang, but don't get upset I will tell the story as it happened.

Zakkie, I say this out of concern about the general anger in the cycling community over this incident. I presume you are somehow connected, so please encourage members of Muhammedeyah cycling club to wear non-club kit on Sunday. A mob mentality is a nasty thing and vigilante justice even worse.

Guys idk why you all need evidence before the fact if all the PPA etc need to see the facts and decide on an outcome... what more could you as individual possibly need...

FACT

The Western Province Cycling Association says they will take disciplinary action against two members of the Muhammadeyah Cycling Club in Wynberg

would not condone this behaviour from someone who has used a bicycle for 1 day.. let alone a pelaton of riders from a club, in that clubs uniform, under the name of their prophet.(sorry not bringing in religion .. its just facts)

IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE ACCORDING TO THE PPA AND VARIOUS BODIES !!

if you are in a club and cycle under these bodies why is it not to you?

Sorry Mr X and any off roaders out there.

I must say I'm very surprised I haven't seen any comments slating the driver of the vehicle for using his cellphone to campag RECORD the incident while driving.

I'll take back the trolling accusation.

The cyclists might have had perfectly good reasons to be angry, problem is that when they reacted with violence that was broadcast to the world everything that preceded the incident became irrelevant and now the cycling community as a whole is perceived as violent thugs. The aftermath of this video is the perfect example of why cyclists should not retaliate with violence.

And again - every time you say something like "And I do not condone mob mentality and violence in that regard,"

followed by "but <insert your justification for violence in certain situations >" you are condoning violence loud & clear.
