never finished in more than 3 hrs, including twice on the mtb.

the last one was damn close tho...2:59

maybe that's why I don't do it anymore, the trend is going the wrong way...

Ha, Ha, yeah, I know the feeling.

....but I agree and in all seriousness the 94.7 is a fairly simple race, and you can be competitive on about 8 hours a week quite easily. Of course the on the day anything can happen, (and usually does) but its quite achievable.

For the next 3 months start building up your aerobic endurance with some long steady rides (Zone 2).

Then add some lactic threshold (zone 4) sessions, to up your FTP.

And then, in the 6 weeks leading up to 94.7 you need to up your Vo2Max by doing regular S-H-I-T-S*.

*Seriously Hard Interval Training Sessions (Zones 5-7) ...what did you guys think I meant?!? :D

Just checked my certificate, time on it says 2 hrs 59mins 35.2 sec.... average speed 31.64 kph

Bliksem that was 7 years ago...

Well my excuse is: I rode a borrowed bike (old Trek aluminum 9 speed blue red n white clunker) and coming from switz at 425m asl to joburgs 1500m asl and... only did 2 x 90 km long rides in training, the rest was short hard rides and i started in group PP at like nearly 10am...

enuff excuses i think

8 hours a week. Will budge the time budget. Do the TITS and base training, suck wheels, share the work up front AND hopefully find a group who rides daily and are marginally stronger than me (oe wont mind riding at 30km/h).

Now..... who rides in and around Randburg, Blairgowrie Mon- Friday :whistling:

Make sure you do some 94.7 seeding races (I think the D2D & Race For Victory are the only ones left for the year). Then make good use of your training time and you should definitely be able to give a sub 3 a good go.

While we are discussing the 94.7, does anyone know where the start/finish will be this year as its apparently no longer Waterfall Estate?
